This was my first big boy watch back in 2004 or so.....the Roadster Chrono XL. Of course, being the stupid young person I was then (24 years old)....I decided "let's put some diamonds on it!". I ended up having diamonds put around the bezel. I obviously would never do that today.
In any event, it's definitely a larger watch and heavy. Besides the metal bracelet, it had a kevlar band that came with it when purchased new from Cartier. It was stolen about 7 years ago but time to time I look on Ebay to see what they go for. They actually still are going for about $6k now....I want to say I paid only slightly more for it way back when. It's a nice watch.....like any polished watch, the bracelet can look worn pretty quickly. |

My wife got me one for an engagement gift back in 2006. It’s the exact same as Nick’s photo above. It’s my least favourite watch in my collection and gets zero wrist time. Honestly, if I were to choose again, I would have gone with anything else really. My 116500 black dial gets most wrist time followed by ALS up/down.
If you like the watch, used ones go for very cheap! Good luck! |

I've got mine new about 13 years ago I think. I love it and mainly because of the awesome straps you can change out in 3 seconds! You can make it look different every time and people think I have different watches :) It's hard to find the straps now, but I'm working with a company that now is making new straps to fit this watch! No one else does it because it requires you to have the special end pieces that were only made by cartier but this place has them so how. Here are some more pic of my straps, etc. This watch has aged great and looks current still to this day. I never wanted a rolex because everyone has one. I just like something a little different that is still recognizable, but the strap system is one of the best parts. I've since seen it in many movies and it's the go to watch if you're a car guy. Dr Phil has the gold version of this watch. Was in an office and the show was on and when I looked up he was wearing a roadster. I snapped a pic and if I can find will post later.
