Helium shortage - apparently SS Rolex isn’t only thing in short supply
Went by the local party store to pick up some balloons for my sons birthday and saw this sign - I read something years ago about the eventual worldwide shortage and the artificially low price in my country for helium. Apparently this is for real. I’ve always taken it for granted

Maybe Rolex will release a Sea Dweller with no HEV at Basel 19..?
Doesn't seem much point having one if there's no helium to escape...lol Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

wouldn't it be funny if the human race required helium to reach other habitable planets and we had used it all for party balloons.

But if you buy some silly string and party poppers, they'll put your name on the waiting list.

It's interesting to read about helium and it's history in the USA.

I'll get by without balloons, but I will miss the funny voices.

I work for a company that produces about 25% of the world’s helium but it is just a by-product for us. About ten years ago, I was in a meeting with the company’s CEO when the Helium plant manager turned up holding loads of helium filled balloons to celebrate the start up of the plant.
