I popped into the London Boutique over Christmas, they had it the display model on the rubber. I didn't like it at all, it was way paler than I'd imagined and reminded me of the orange fondant filling I'm horrified to occasionally find hiding inside chocolate assortments.

The head was lovely though, the dial is quite gorgeous, though not enough to make me give up my 201.

I was really shocked by this watch in real life. It wears nowhere like the size specs... Despite the thickness and large diameter.... It sits very well on a small wrist. Personally still too big for me and I haven't accepted the 4 o'clock date window heh... But another amazing dial. Very interesting watch with a great complication.

I went 201 and while I do like the LE I completely agree w your chocolate orange fondant nastiness comment . I can’t stand orange and chocolate together and I love oranges and chocolate

I think if I was to buy a Spring Drive Seiko then this is the watch I would buy.

Its a kind of retro design with the shape of the minute and hour hands (reminiscent of a 1019 Milgauss) and the washed out bezel look. The bezel appearance generally reminds me of the of the vintage Rolex GMT 6542 with the bakelite bezel insert.

I also like the fact that this Grand Seiko has a very cool 24 hour hand in red that goes all the way to the edge of the dial, the power reserve indicator and the date window and crown both positioned at 4 O'Clock.

The only thing missing is a lume indicator on the second hand....but hey this isn't trying to be a diver watch.

Can anyone please tell me is the bezel stepped in 24 positions or 60 positions or without any positioning ratchets?

I don't for the life of me know why. 3 clicks per hour on the 24 hour scale.
2 clicks, 48 total would have made more sense. I live in a "1/2 hour" zone in east Asia, we're ahead of GMT +5 1/2 hours, PST by 12 1/2, so it would be great to have that 1/2 way click. It can be 20 or 40 minutes, but not 30... Works fine, I can set it 1 click to be 5 hours 20 minutes ahead of GMT and my big dumb brain can figure out it's supposed to be 5 and 30 minutes, but on a watch where everything else has been so thoughtfully engineered, it seems a peculiar oversight....

If you operate in normal "whole hour" timezones it's not an issue.

72 clicks, very interesting...why??? Who knows.
However, given that many clicks it would be possible to use the bezel as a timer too which can be very useful.

My research tells me that there is a titanium model with gold hands, indices and bezel numbers. I quite like the look of that.
The advantage of titanium is that it make a watch of this size (around 44mm) feather light.

There are not. There are a couple of 1/2 links so it was easy to get a good fit, but there's no on the fly adjustment.
I wear my bracelets on the loose side so it's not something I miss.

It seems like it is layers of ceramic. Because the actually bezel markings look lower than the top coating of ceramic. It does a killer ghosting in certain types of lighting during the day. It will change from black to a faint gray.
