I believe Cartier has made important contributions regarding case design and for as long as I have been collecting I have admired some of their watches. Actually waiting delivery of my first, been hunting since I began collecting.

I would absolutely include them in a list of serious watches. As well I would include Panerai for there original, unique proven design.

Like Cartier, Panerai are not known for in house movements. they each existed for the significant part of their days using outsourced movements. (JLC and rolex among them.)

I wouldn’t want to know a world of watches without them in it.
