Flashy in a good way. Still classy. It’s not like you will be rocking some iced out custom Rolex. If you like it I would get it.

I have TT Datejust 41 w/ fluted + jubilee and it's extremely flashy. So far I only wear it for special occasions, it's too much to wear around at work. Not sure how much of that is due to the gold, though. Steel bracelet and white gold fluted bezel may be more toned down.

You have to be comfortable with it or it's going to sit in the drawer. If you have doubt about it, I'd recommend finding something else that doesn't set off your flashiness alarm. Your first instinct is usually the correct one.

I like my fluted + Oyster. Perfect balance between flashy & sporty. I really like the plain bezel DJ as well but it's gotta be on jubilee then because I feel some flashiness is necessary on it. Otherwise might as well get an OP39 for half the cost.

If you are concerned about overly flashy, my inclination is that the smooth bezel/jubilee combination would be a bit more under the radar than the fluted bezel. The smooth bezel makes it seem more sporty, reminiscent of the explorer or the air king, and the jubilee bracelet will make it step up a bit to more formal occasions. While it's a close call, the fluted is probably at least a tad flashier.

Classy and classic. Can't go wrong with that reference combo.

Thanks for all of your input, very much appreciated! To address some of the comments, I am 30 and I sell real estate. I am only concerned about a watch being too flashy if it sends the wrong message.

I think I should be clear that I am not necessarily going to sell the white OP39 for the DJ. I purchased the OP39 in hopes of a 2 piece collection alongside the Submariner, but I want something that stands out a bit more for certain situations. My business is very image driven and I take that seriously.

The OP39 is nice, but the DJ41 seems to be more substantial on the wrist. To the guys saying it's common sense not to buy a similar DJ (smooth bezel).. try both on and tell me they are the same.. Not even close!

I know there are a great number of people suggesting fluted+jubilee, but I am going to stick with either of my original choices being fluted+oyster or smooth+jubilee.

Very interesting to hear those of you that bought the smooth bezel ended up regretting it and wanting the fluted bezel. That is one of my concerns as well.

I got the rhodium, smooth bezel on a Jubilee.

My other watch is a BLNR and I am REALLY impressed with how comfortable the Jubilee is. It's now made my BLNR mostly redundant.

I would happily amend other options... blue/silver/white/black v Rhodium. Fluted v smooth.
But the Jubilee would be the only essential choice, now that I've worn it a few months.

I was 'take it or leave it' on fluted v smooth. As i was indifferent, I just decided to go smooth as it was less money and less flash, as the Jubilee gives it enough bling for me.
The rhodium smooth bezel actually works well with the Jubilee imo, as the dial colours match the case and Bracelet in certain light (pic).

The BLNR is alos my more flashy option.

Out of interest, would it be possible to swap over bezels at a future date, as it was an original option on the watch?

Here's a pic of my II with the fluted bezel/oyster combo. I don't think too flashy at all, but I do think the jubilee dials up the flashy side more-so than the oyster.

If that's your intention just buy a DD40. Nothing screams "I'm successful let me sell your house for top price" than a Presidential strapped to your wrist.

If you sell high end real estate many of your customers would know what it is and many would think you are very successful wearing that if thats the image you want to portray and I understand in Real Estate sometimes its what you want and need to portray.

I love my DJ41 on jubilee
Super comfortable and with a smooth bezel can be dressed up or dressed down

Anything with PCL”s is going to be a bit flashy. I’m not a fan of the fluted bezel and jubilee look so I went smooth and oyster. I agree that generally this is a more sporty look but IMO it’s still pretty flashy.

I don't sell a lot of high end real estate, but not low end either. Also can't afford PM right now. It's not about showing off, but it is confidence inspiring when someone actually notices your watch in the industry (which isn't often). I guess it's more of a personal confidence thing for me.

Datejust 41 - Jubilee too flashy?

You’re going from an OP39 to a DJ41.

Not only is the DJ marginally larger, but even if you go with a smooth bezel, it will stand out far more than the ‘domed’ bezel on your OP.

If you go with fluted, you’ll be going from 0-100, all at once. Obviously it depends on how much bling you want.

I personally think fluted bezels should be left for the 36mm DJ’s as I think they dominate the larger versions.

Smooth bezel looks best on the 41 version, I think.

I had the similar dilemma, just pick up Datejust II fluted bezel oyster blue dial . Dressy and sporty the jubilee bracelet was very nastolgic and solid but it leaned toward the dressy side .Either way you’ll be happy 41mm sits nice and has a nice presence.

very personal decision , I'm twice your age and tend to be more conservative

I like the smooth bezel / Jubilee combo on the 41 - Reasoning for the Jubilee is pure comfort .. and the fact that it now has an easy link is nice !

The oyster bracelet has a polished center link that will show scratches easier than Jub

The OP [39 ? ] as I remember has a nice satin brushed finish - similar to sport models
That combined with the Plain dial tones down the OP big time ..

The Jubilee is comfortable because it's so flexible and light.
And completely flat on the underside.
I didn't realise this until I got one!
