Thoughts On Blue Seiko Prospex Dive SBDC053?

Hey Everyone!! I’m thinking of purchasing the Blue Seiko Prospex SBDC053 For My fathers 60th Birthday. We’re both huge Seiko lovers and I love the look and blue Dial on the watch! Does anyone here own the SBDC053 and can give their thoughts? I’m also thinking of a Pre-owned Grand Seiko but that’s a little more expensive. Thanks!!

I have it and like it. Better build quality than Samurai and Turtle.

Bargain, impressive & more feature packed "Blue" timepieces?
Also consider: PHOIBOS REEF MASTER PY015B - PHOIBOS REEF MASTER PY016B - PHOIBOS EAGLE RAY PY017A
All are high quality 300M Dive units...

Are they made in China? Is the movement made in China?

For me this watch wears flatter on the wrist than the SBDC063. I have to say it is finished really nicely though and you will not lose if you buy it.

Here is a pic I just took.

Great watch and I believe the movement has a longer power reserve than the average Turtle or Samurai. I have owned mine since late summer early fall and have enjoyed it. The colors of the bezel and dial are great in the light.

I think the 615 has something like 9 more hours of reserve. Something like that.

I have an 053, which cost in the $600 range. Does that one have a better movement? Mine has sapphire crystal.

I just picked up the black dial on bracelet version SBDC051, sold the bracelet in 2 hours on Ebay for a net cost of $525. I don't know where I could get more watch for 1/16th the cost of a Submariner.

"Why is this posted like spam?" toxicavenger

Spam? How is that?
I just copy & pasted the names so they could be 'googled' - didn't want to spell the models wrong.
Simply my to the thread...

See their website...

From what I've read, "China" for everything but the movements.
As can be seen on their website, they basically use the Seiko & Citizen movements (some models have Swiss).

My Eagle Ray PY017A came with the Miyota 9015 (Citizen) movement. It arrived regulated at +7 seconds per day worn on my wrist.
In the auto winder it calms down to only +4 seconds; with these excellent results out of the box, I have no need to correct it
