Watch at Work story
I work as a nurse in an ER. One of the Paramedics I've worked with for a couple years stopped and chatted with me in the hallway before work tonight. I noticed his eyes kept darting to my wrist, and the Sub ND I was wearing. We continued our conversation, and I just happened to notice an Oyster bracelet on HIS wrist.
Of course, at that point, the conversation went from college to watches. He was sporting a Sea Dweller. His mother in law bought it for him for his 20th wedding anniversary. We exchanged watches for a minute; him with the "it's so LIGHT!" and me with the "this thing is a beast!" There haven't been too many great moments at work lately. This however, was one. Nice to have one more thing to chat with a coworker about |

Very PG. I was expecting something like the watch accidentally slipped off your wrist and ended up in a patient. Unbeknownst to the Doctor, the watch was sewn up and there was a patient somewhere in the world walking around with a Rolex inside them.

Its funny, a uni female graduate intern at my workplace recently commented out of the blue: "What a nice Rolex watch on your wrist". Never expected it from her since she usually wear an Apple smartwatch.

This is a good "that's a nice watch" story, and I have to admit that I engage in that practice in the appropriate circumstances.
What I find more fascinating, is that your colleagues mother in law purchased the SeaDweller for him. |

I worked with a surgeon when I was a resident that had a great collection. He had several Panerai Submersibles, several Omega Speedmasters, and a tone-tone GMT-Master II. Those were the watches I saw him wear to work. I am sure he owned many considering he gave a colleague of his a Seamaster because he needed a better watch. He's the only guy I ever really talked watches with. Most people never noticed what I had on.

Usually, in the same field, it's a piece of common ground. except of course for this one grumpy Indian doc who just grumbled when I complimented his barked YG DD a while ago. But then again, all he ever does is grumble. He gives phone orders, and I just type what makes sense.
One of my ER docs wears a IWC Big Pilot sometimes. Another wears a Grand Seiko. Quite a few Apple watches. But the kicker is the guy who drives a bright yellow McLaren and wears a Hulk. I don't know how he wedges his ample behind into that car, or how many extra links he had to buy. |

Great story!! It’s always awkward to see who will throw the nice watch note first!
