Definitely automatic.

To find a manual wind, you'd have to virtually go vintage as they were discontinued many years ago. I'm talking about Rolex, of course.

There are no easy answers here.

I really depends on what you want.

Do you want a date?
Do you want a thinner watch?
Do you want a sandwich dial?
etc. and so on.

i sugest you look during one week to make a better idea.
if you are in a hurry let us know:
1 wind or manual
2 date?
3 rad or luminor
4 seconds?
5 till how much?
6 new?
7 dive?
8 gmt?
9 chrono?
to me i'll start with something simple as 000 005 183 210 112 104 111.
and don't forget to buy several straps (it's funny)

For Panerai, I will choose manual than auto.
More classic to me.

Agreed! And more fun to take off casually in front of co-workers to wind up.

I like auto's but I love manual winds. The only reason I keep thinking about buying a PAM is because I miss having a manual wind watch in my collection. Get the manual

Get the Manual now and then get an Auto later or vice versa... This is an addiction you know.....
