Colour of Rolex White Gold
I thought i'd upload a couple of pix today as the light really makes the difference when trying to show the colour of WG v stainless steel.
And now taking photos I realise I need to wipe my watch as its got fingerprints all over it ...sigh!

Gold is “gold color” but can be alloyed with other metals to mask or change the gold color - eg to produce rose or pink gold, white gold. While beautiful, some white gold “yellows” over time and is often plated at that point with rhodium which retains its whiteness. I know from experience Patek Phillippe in NYC often does this when white gold watches are serviced

That’s a beautiful watch. Tried on the same one in Belgium this weekend but it was unfortunately out of my budget. Absolutely love the dial contrast with the white gold.

White gold is much warmer than steel but to be honest unless you know the reference or have steel and WG watches side by side most people would think it’s steel except for something like a Day-Date whose shiny white gold bezel makes it obvious that it’s not steel.

Honestly who cares if people knows it’s gold or SS. One doesn’t buy WG to show off.

That’s correct that white gold will have yellow tone over long period time. I have seen this happens on my 60s era day date 1803. It gives warmer look and more vintage feel In my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

as the OP I can say I agree 100% with this one. Having had SS, TT and now WG I really don't care who thinks its a the SS over the WG. The "feel" and the "look" are really personal and it was a grail from way back ;o)

Your photo when color balanced gives the subtle warmer cast in WG compared to the cooler color of SS.
Not everyone’s eye can discern the difference until the two metals are side-by-side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
