Red Subdate in Lisbon

Hi everybody.
Yesterday I saw a Red Subdate in prestige condition.
Nice lume "patine", perfect dial, case, etc.
The guy is very reliable and a very well known collector and dealer in Lisbon.
I do not have yet the S/N and or if it has all the papers.
He is asking €9000 which is in USD11,6195.
What do you fellow TRFers think of this price?
Thanks in advance

Well, as always condition is key. I think it depends on several factors such as is it a meters first or feet first. Meters first commands a bit more.

The addition of B&P is always a big plus as is documentation regarding service history and the like.

I'm not well versed in pricing in your part of the world, but for a feet first that seems a bit strong in todays climate.

Again, a photo of the dial, case, back, etc.... would tell a lot.

it would also be interesting to see how many of the accessories are coming with the watch, we al know that these can cost a fortune, especially a triplock tag.

I have seen them listed for more than that, however they do not seem to be selling! As Mike & Marke have said, pics would be a huge help.

Hi Mike, Mark and Scott,
Thanks for your input.
It seems priced too high IMHO, but I will check the items you guys mentioned.
I shall try and talk to the collector again soon.
He was too busy yesterday.
As soon as I have this info (I am not so sure he will allow me to take pics) I will post back.

rule of thumb on priciing on the red sub approx

watch only, with some service history ft first dial £ 5000-5500
as above meters first £ 6000 -7000

ft first with box papers accessories £5750 -7000
mtrs first with box and papers etc accessories £6500 -9000

obvisiously you could by one from antiqorum or bonhams etc, but i feel you wil pay way overr the top and also you have to pay the auction house buyers premium.

i was recenty offered a red sub 1971 complete, but did not have triplock tag for £6250 so it shows price fluctuate left, righ and up and down

hope this help

I would compare prices with certain auction houses. The last auction there were pieces going for 20k and 7k. There were some that didn't even find a home. I am looking for one as well and I think 7-9k is really reasonable considering there are pieces going for 15-plus that are not in great conditon compared to complete sets.

I think collectors and sellers think they can still demand these prices but the times have changed.

that was then but reality now is the whole market pricen some of these vintage piece has crashed or have been aligned. some models will not be affected by the credit crucnh or recesion, models like 5517, 5514, comex models etc.

the auction houses prices vary immensley june2008 1680 red complete went for 17000 sterling, december a similar watch went for 9000 sterling

but cannot predict what else will happen with these
