FS: Rolex 6538 Big Crown Submariner James Bond Absolutely Mint and Stunning!

What I bring for sale here is something that I am having a hard time letting go of, but I would like to make some room in my collection so I must let it go.

This is probably one of the most stunning condition 6538's you will ever see offered.

This particular 6538 features vintage rolex tritium service parts from the late 60's.

The late 60's tritium dial and tritium hands have the most stunning yellow patina. The coined bezel and mk3 insert are NOS no scratches or wear and the original tritium pearl has aged to such a beautiful tone.

For a very short time, Rolex had produced the coined edge bezels in steel, to replace their brass counterparts, identical in terms of design and size, however the steel bezels are more strong and not prone to the cracking or stretching like the brass bezels were prone to. This insert was mounted by rolex and has never been altered or unmounted since. It is seated perfectly flush and with true pressure fit. The MK3 insert is NOS condition with 0 scratches or wear. I don't throw around the Term NOS easily. But it truly is new old stock condition.

The 7206 rivet bracelet is in equally stunning condition. It is a unpolished bracelet. That is another word I don't throw around lightly. The bracelet has a full 13 links. The links have no dents or dings what so ever and has never been sized. The bracelet has never been restored either, it is factory. The bracelet is just hardly worn after all these years. The rivets are as sharp as could be. Clasp is date stamped 68.

This watch has undergone a full $2300 spa treatment at LAWW last year and has a clean bill of health for many years to come. The case has been re cut by laww. The Goose beak style lugs are fat and stunning with sharp chamfers restored back to factory spec.

The 1030 movement is stunning and arrived in beautiful original condition.

The picture below of the case back and movement are before the service took place from when I first purchased this watch. I did not want to unseal the watch just to take a picture when I already had one available. You will also see photo's of the watch undergoing the service at LAWW as well.

The reference number between the lugs 6538 is partially worn from bracelet wear. The serial number is still visible 426xxx

There are no condition issues to report what so ever. The watch is a amazing service example from the late 60's.

This watch is very special because you just never see 6538's come to market in this condition. They all have issues when they come along, whether the inserts are popping from their weak bezels, or dial/hands have issues, movement may have issues or the cases have some kind of issue. Bottom line is any watch from the 1950's is going to have some condition issues.

Honestly, I personally have not seen a 6538 of equal condition to compare this one to.

The watch is based in the USA.
