I wasn't trying to make fun of a post, I honestly thought she was saying it in jest.

Don't you think that referring to someone as a "girl" is worse?

This is a very commonly reported ‘fault’. Far more people make this mistake than you might otherwise guess. So the OP has nothing to be embarrassed about.

My wife could do the same mess with setting date but she is good at other things. Different priorities

Yup. That’s they way to address the original poster’s issue.

Wow I didn’t realize this thread became so vitriolic after I left. Thank you to those who remained civil and on topic. As some pointed out, I’m very new to this and this is my first automatic movement watch. I knew the AM and PM were off but didn’t know how to tell which it was on to fix it. I expected there was an obvious fix and hence asked.

There’s enough of a “boys club” out for women in the real world right now. I didn’t expect it on here as well. Thanks for those who helped dismiss such remarks.

While discrimination is undeniably abhorrent in any form that it may take I think it is fair to say this forum is very egalitarian in it's distribution of sarcasm and piss taking to all members regardless of gender, race, religion, orientation.

I'll happily get it's date going again for you. Will even pay the postage to the UK for you

Ha it’s ok. I’m a big girl, I can both dish and take it. ;) Yes, I have found people to generally be very helpful here. Many gave me tips and personal references to help me buy my first Rolex, which I was very appreciative of. I was just a little surprised at the different tone in this thread given my prior experience.

Glad you got it sorted. Do take a moment and find the quickset date feature of your watch that I described earlier, so if you watch ever runs out of power you can quickly reset it.

You get it set properly?

With the way the watch market is these days the forum seems to have a lot of newer members asking the same questions over and over about investment and collectibility and which watches are going to make them rich. People see recent join dates and are a little skeptical.

Hope you're enjoying the watch... we need some pictures though!

In an effort to redeem myself from any hint of being "vitriolic" or not "civil" I offer the following three suggestions:

1. New owners that have purchased from an AD may wish to read the Rolex instruction booklet contained in the box that came with the watch from Rolex.

2. If a new owner purchases a watch without a Rolex Instruction booklet, they can easily source one from many online sellers ie; Ebay.

3 If a new owner would like to read some basic information, it can be found here on the Rolex site. https://www.rolex.com/rolex-dealers/...intenance.html and here: https://www.rolex.com/media/user-guides.html

Howdy,

Please don't let a few thoughtless comments turn you off from the forum. As forums go, this is one of the best and 99% of the people on it will gladly offer you sound advice without the snark.

Congratulations on your watch and welcome! We were all new once and learning is part of the fun.

Take care,

Ruddiger

Since I have an ETA-based Tudor Black Bay, I do everything clockwise on all my watches.
You don’t need to move the movement backwards. Use the quickest date mechanism which is the middle position on the crown. Advance the date until the day prior to the current date then follow the instructions in this thread. Just avoid doing this between 10pm and 2am to make sure the date wheel is not engaged.

I quite like the idea of this to watch the date change over for a few days at noon.

Hopefully I’m already on my first sleep by midnight most days.
