216570 Polar [Stock]
Just curious if anyone has been seeing this model in stock at AD's. I've come across the black dial, but not the polar and while I know the shortage is hitting every SS sport model, it seems as if you might still luck across an EXP2.
Any sightings in the wild or has the market gone crazy for this one too? |

That's awesome, man. It's on my list at my AD since April, so definitely not as lucky as you.

I saw one in the case at Haltom’s in Ft. Worth, TX. That’s been a few weeks ago now though. Maybe it was a fluke.
I’m new to this whole Rolex shortage thing and didn’t know I was seeing a unicorn. |

I purchased a new polar 216570 about three weeks ago in Orange County, CA at an AD. No sport models were on display, but I asked if they had an Explorer I. The sales person brought out an Explorer II from the vault, not what I planned on buying, but left the store with the watch. I guess my advise is: If you don't see it on display still ask.

Bought the white several weeks ago, called on shipment day, it came in so went and picked it up. They now have a waiting list. Went today to another AD in Toronto hoping to get the black dial. Nothing. No Exp or AK even.

Saw one in the wild today on a lady in Toronto. That was the first time seeing a 42mm one other than people I know who have them. I have seen several 40mm.

I’ve only seen one in AD’s in the last year or so, but in Black, not Polar, I picked it up.

A few weeks ago I posted one sitting in a display case of westchester county AD. It was a polar.

Have not seen one at an AD lately but would guess chances of doing so are just slightly better than seeing a Sub or GMT. They are $8,100 MSRP but one well known gray dealer is asking about $9,500 today for a Polar. It's a crazy price IMO but pales in comparison to the madness for other SS models. I had one and it is indeed a great watch. Good luck!

Picked up my Polar last week here in Southern California. There was a black being offered at a different AD the week prior.

Used to see both black and polar in ADs, even as other SS skyrocketed, then they started disappearing. Now I can’t find one anywhere.
Very underrated watch (maybe not so much anymore). Can’t wait to see what Rolex has in store for this one for its 50th anniversary in 2021. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have seen the Explorer II black and white in the case once this year at the local Amsterdam AD.
Also know these timepieces can be sourced with not to much trouble for the AD. Got my Polar last year from a grey with a decent discount. |

Thanks for all of the replies.
@Batmannr1 - I haven't found an AD that can source one in the US. The few AD's I work with say Rolex determines allocation and unless they had other stores in other locations I don't think there's a lot of cross-sourcing of inventory. I'm not sure, though, I've asked. @painexpert - that's awesome. Glad someone is finding these! @Danny25 - Fulton's no longer has this piece, I checked. Thanks for the heads up. @Annan - Yeah, I saw that premium at grey. Insane. |

My AD had one in case last week. Likely gone now I’d guess.

AD local to me has all three Explorer in stock. And they've been in the window for at least a month now.

The last time I spoke with my AD was in April and he stated he hasn't seen one since mine which was a year ago (last june). Of course I now only visit this one AD in my area of metro Detroit but overall it seems the Expll has been more sought after and less seen than ever before since this SS shortage started in 2018. BTW, I received a 7.5% discount, tax incl. on mine.

Ok, so I should probably mention one of the real reasons certain models are so tough to find around here, I live in Oregon where there's no sales tax.
This means both that I wouldn't source a watch I couldn't get tax-free and that many people call in daily looking to buy these pieces tax-free (if they show up locally, of course) So, in Oregon, it's tough. I have no doubt I could find one somewhere if I was willing to travel to it, but I'm not interested in paying sales tax or paying to travel to pick it up. Thanks for all of the updates, though. I'm not surprised there'd be inventory in SoCal! |

Haven’t seen one in the case in a year or two in Toronto. Local grey has one new for around 10k Canadian if you’re interested.
