maybe this helps

But can’t mention the brand name. It’s not even subtlety done.

Maybe some before and after pics would be more effective OP

I think the OP misspelled the user name, there should not be an "n" in the middle of "Initial Ad Pitch"...

Do people really wear jewelry with plastic on it to prevent scratches?

well they definitely dont put plastic on tools.

A scratch isn't damage. Preventing a scratch is appearance related 100%. Im not buying a hammer and putting plastic on it

I agree with the no plastic sentiment.

I did note the cynicism and that’s healthy but misplaced this time. In rereading my post I noticed that I’d lazily cut and paste brand names with ®️ symbols out of an eBay ad. That ad triggered the question but in retrospect it could be misconstrued. Plus I couldn’t fathom how they sold this stuff at more than $100 a throw.

Thanks for the opinions. It was a genuine question so I appreciate those who took the time to answer. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I don’t flog sticky plastic.

To be fair, you’re probably also not buying a $10k hammer.

I’ve been wearing it for 3 months and there are the inevitable tiny scrapes in the clasp. Not significant yet.

I saw a product on eBay (not sure if I can mention the brand). Essentially the product is an adhesive covering that goes on the crystal, case sides and clasp. The story goes that it prevents scraping incidents/desk diving and can supposedly be removed without residue. Product is called Zagg® and Invisible Shield®

Does anybody have experience with this type of product and is it a wise move or not? Do you think it's a gimmick or should your watch be allowed to age gracefully?

Thanks. I appreciate your thoughts.
Refering to the other thread about buying 5 at ones without having a clou it just seems to be ridiculous!

It's unfair to assume this is a shill. The OP has more than 400 posts, all on appropriate watch topics. I think he just wants to keep his watch looking nice, and I do too. What I've been using on my bracelet's buckle, with some success, is a plastic intended to protect the covers of books. It's called e-clips self adhesive book cover, and here's a photo of a roll https://www.flickr.com/photos/miket_.../in/datetaken/

It's MUCH stickier than the plastic used to protect cars and also much thinner. (In fact, it's so thin and so sticky that it's rather difficult to apply to a book without wrinkles. Once you touch it down on something, you're not getting it off without a fight). It's thin enough to tuck under the ends of a buckle and you can get it to fit into logos on a buckle by pressing it in with a wooden probe.

I've using putting a strip about 17mm wide on my Submariner's buckle, and it seems to last about two weeks before it gets ragged. I swim laps regularly in a pool with my watch, and it would probably last longer for people who keep their watches dry.

Finally, I am not a shill for this company -- I'm not even sure who they are. I buy the stuff in rolls at a local dollar store to protect my books, and the trimmings from covering one book are enough for a dozen watches.

My new Porsche looked so nice I decided to put a front-end cover (bra) on it. Worked great, but the cover looked so good I decided to protect it and put a cover cover on it. Success! But wait---the cover cover was really attractive, and I wanted to keep it looking good, so I went to the auto store and found a cover cover cover............

This is similar to people wrapping their black-paint Leica M in gaffer tape, because they don’t want it to brass
