Feel like I won the lottery!

My wife and I started looking for a new Rolex for each of us to celebrate her promotion, and as a reward for finishing the renovations of our house which had sat vacant for two years. She ended up wanted a diamond bezel and diamond dial date just, while I wanted a SubND or a Yachtmaster. I have been out of the market for the past 14 years, and much to my chagrin when we visited the AD where we moved (South Florida) and learned of the current market conditions. The first thing they asked me was had I bought from them before. I left my name, while my wife tried on a pearlmaster and the stainless 116244. We went to some of the resellers in town, and many showed us aftermarket diamond dials and bezels, claiming they were just as good as the factory. It did not sit right, so I joined the forum and my education began. After countless visits to every dealer, we decided factory all the way. That day, DavidSW posted a 3 week old 116244 with MOP Diamond Dial and Bezel hidden clasp jubilee with full kit for $8000 off list. We jumped on that, and then I got the call from the AD they had just received a SubC no date, did I want it. We jumped at that one too. My wife and I had set a budget of $20k for her watch, and $10-15k for my watch based on market prices.

Had it not been for this forum, we would have spent $30K. Instead, we both have the exact new Rolex we wanted for total spend of $20k meaning my watch was free! Thanks all for the informative posts on here, I have always been a WIS but now my wife is too!

Congrats! I’m also in South Florida (Weston), which AD did you score your sub from?

Smart move to take care of your wife’s interests rather than just your own. Sounds like you guys have a good marriage. Congrats on each of your watches and on picking the right woman.
