EXACTLY why I find it hard to believe they have any plans of ramping up production

It's simply whenever the supplies are being droppes off, anyone, literally anyone can buy. And yes, supplies do get dropped off, the likes of Daytona, Pepsi, you name it. Although, drop schedule is very random, once every 3-4 months and Rolex doesn't notify the boutique prior. She said when the sports model were dropped they sold out within 1-2 hr to casual visitors.

I kinda like this "fair sales treatment", kind of first come first serve basis which gives "equal" opportunities to wider customers.

I know this Rolex supply game is slowly getting old, but Im still hoping to get lucky one of these days with such Changi approach lol.

Wdyt guys?

And have you seen such practice of Rolex AD elsewhere?

Cheers,

Suitable for an airport boutique I think, don´t owe anything to anybody. For a location AD with customers dropping tens of thousands of dollars in other things onto them, other factors are at play.

I would rather see a watch I can try on, vs. nothing at all. It has happened where I bought a watch sight unseen and just did not connect with it.

Now if you could order the said watch and given a realistic timeframe on when it can be delivered that would be a win-win.

So I don't visit any Rolex boutiques anymore. It was very early and I think the store just opened. Manager saw me and we both said hello and he asked if he could help me. I said not really I know I'm just wasting my time to see if there was anything interesting to see but your store was on a direct path to my gate so I'm just passing through. He said we have lots of interesting watches.

I said I see but none I'm interested in thank you as I was walking towards the exit. He then asked what I would be interested in and I said a SS Sport watch. He then said well which one would you be interested in, stopping dead in my tracks I said I love the LV and he was like nodding his head and walking over towards the back and then I made the tactical error and said mindlessly if not the LV a Daytona would be fine or even a Polar Explorer and he then stopped dead in his tracks. LOL!

It was just such a shock that I didn't get the laugh and indignant brush off when for even mentioning the words SS sport watch, I was like a Deer in the headlights just standing there slack jawed. I guess that's what my wife saw, me standing there like a dumbfounded zombie and started yelling at me from outside the store.

I knew I screwed up immediately and he asked have you bought a SS recently and I told him I just got the BLNR and he said did I buy from an AD and I said yes from my AD that I think is fantastic and he said that's nice to hear and its probably best you stay loyal to your AD and I said I absolutely agree. We shook hands as gentlemen and off I went to the gate. Kind of glad it went the way it did since I'd rather get the watch from my AD who's been very good to me and since I said I would only buy from them I get to keep my word.

Not saying 100% he was going to offer me a watch but it sure felt like it. Most likely wouldn't have bought it anyway especially with the wife yelling what exactly are you doing at me and not too pleasantly I might add. It was just the allure of seeing one of the Holly Grails potentially being offered for purchase that got me.

When I exited the store she was like we're late and what was that about and I said I think I was going to be offered a Hulk and her immediate response was you promised to only buy from our dealer. I said yes honey I know but I didn't go in there looking to actually buy I was just passing through to see what was on display and it spiraled on from there. I didn't approach anyone to asking the dumb question of do you have a Batman or Hulk I can buy. By the way they had a lot of watches on display. Don't ask me exactly what but there were a lot of cases full of watches most likely all the usual suspects.

So give it a try but stick to one watch if you get asked and best of luck to you!!!

Ahhh no, you were a breath away from the LVc (out of nowhere) !!!

Be prepared for the next time that luck will knock your door !

I like this “walk in and see” approach. Heathrow T2 have the same. I walked through a few months back and they had just had a Platona delivered. Looked incredible.

High Street vendors will have their regular customers, the airport lounge is going to be far more transitory.
1) buy a full fare, refundable ticket
2) buy watch
3) leave and get ticket refunded

Will have to pay tax, of course.

By putting them on display does that mean you can order one? If not what's their point?
