Am I crazy? 116010 -->116713!? Help...
I am considering selling my 116010LN and buying a 116713... I have been getting a lot of push back on this idea. Initially it was just people not being too fond of two tones, which I get as they are not for everyone.
But now I am getting push back from an investment stand point, I am hearing that the 116713 will not hold its value over the long term like the 116010LN will... is this true? All thoughts are welcome here, I know its ultimately up to me, but would any of you make this move? Would love to hear why or why not. Thanks!! |

You should buy what YOU want to wear; investment/resale value should only be an afterthought at best. If you really want a TT GMT, go for it!
Regarding two tones vs stainless steel, seems SS holds better value on the secondary market, at least in my short life here in this hobby (10 years). I also think the Sub (preC or C) will tend to have better resale value over the GMTs. With that said, I did eventually trade from an M-serial 16610 to a GMT2C, but only because the GMT ticked many boxes off my wants (and it was the watch I originally wanted in 2008 lol). Although I don't ever regret owning the Sub, my learning point was to get what I want. |

Will the TT retain its value as well as the SS version? No
Should that impact your decision? Absolutely Not If you have any intentions of selling, then why consider making the trade at all? Do you truly love and want the watch or not? That should be the only question you're asking. |

The 116713 is awesome! If that's what you want then nothing else really matters.

Buy what makes your eyes and heart happy, not other peoples thoughts or the prospect of value. This whole market could collapse from beneath us and value won't matter, but your eyes will still love to look down at it 20 times a day.

If you want the 116713, get it. The value def won’t hold as well as a 116610, but I wear my watch bc I love it, not as a theoretical investment. Sure, I consider them a store of value, but no matter what, I need to love my watch(es).

I definitely would !
I NEVER buy my watches considering how much it holds the value ! I got a quite expensive Limited Edition Navitimer 01 a month ago. For what I paid for it, I could have gotten a GMT LN or Sub Date LN, Explorer II, etc (and even have saved some money). I even considered one of the 3 regarding the resale value but in the last moment, my heart made me go for the Navitimer 01 and I'm not regretting a bit ! And even more particularly when I remember that it won't hold even close of it's original price ! I simply don't give a s...... I'm very HAPPY with it ! If this makes you happy, don't think twice ! Plus, the Sub C LN is in my opinion the most common/traditional SS Rolex Sport's model so you can get one back quite easily., Another thought, IMO: One can hardly go wrong with any Rolex model !

Do it!! - if you like it you wont be happy buying something else or holding onto something you don't like.
For purchases like watches your number 1 factor should not be value retention. Buying something or holding onto it solely for that purpose is not going to make you happy - thats the truth. |

I've never noticed that before.. are all the dates green? or every other like a roulette date wheel (but green and black)?

Yes it’s true, but I’d make that trade anyways. Gold is nice!

I wouldnt do the trade but I would add to the collection if i were you. As much as I’ve reduced my collection to become a one watch guy with the TT Sub ‘Bluesy’, I kept the LVc sub for less flash when it came time to fly a bit under the radar. The 116713 is still a loud watch, and an absolutely beautiful TT watch, but if you prefer it over the Sub and lost touch, the definitely do the trade!

Actually the prices of all TT have been increasing on the secondary market for some time now. Many on this forum don't like TT but that should not affect your choice. What's wrong with a little splash of gold?

It’s true. TT is beautiful, and my Bluesy is my daily wearer. TT is so much more popular outside the US... kind of like soccer!, mmm maybe not THAT popular

That's a small mod, the green date comes on the full gold model

The 713 certainly has some sizzle to it, so if that's what makes you happy, go for it...there are no "right" answers.
Personally, I would rather have a CHNR for a two tone GMT...have you looked at that? |

DO IT! You're thinking about it for a reason. The sub is boring and if it's your only watch you're bound to want something else. You will have absolutely no problem getting back into the sub if you want to. I just sold my first watch on here and it was easy. You just have to provide a lot of info. so people can easily see who you are and with that you'll never have a lot of trouble getting into and out of watches when you want.

This is my favourite TT Rolex and I am of course biased because I own one. Do what the heart desires and not what others advise. Good luck with your decision.

10 years ago I posted a thread (SubC or Sub TT). As expected everyone said SubC. I decided with SubTT anyways. I was able to get my money back on a trade up to Smurf.

I have a 16713, so put me down as biased. IMO, PCLs are more eye-catching than YG center links, so I don't find it very blingy. But black & gold is such great combo, just a super attractive piece.

I have decided to keep my SS sub for the time being as I came across this beautiful photo by role driver and fell in love all over again. I think the right move for me is to start saving for a bluesy, that’s the ultimate dynamic duo imo.

I would do that in a heartbeat. If you want it do it now. As you know its discontinued now so will be harder and harder to get the longer you wait.
The SS is plain and simple looking - very boring. Get the TT GMT. Looks HEAPS better imho. |
