Explorer 214270 or Datejust 41

I currently own a OP 39mm white dial and a 116040 Sub, I was thinking about purchasing a third Rolex to compliment my collection. Im between the Explorer 214270 Mark 2 and the Datejust 41 blue dial jubilee with SS bezel. I like them both but am leaning towards the DJ, what do you all think?

This actually depends on your choice.

Seems a slightly odd pair to be choosing between. Why have you narrowed your choice down to these two?

The OP and DJ would both play the same daily/slightly dressy role, while the explorer 2 overlaps with the sports/tool watch nature of the Sub, albeit slightly less dressy.

When would you plan to wear either when your current two don’t fit the bill?

If it were me, I’d either be looking at something truely tool-like which I don’t mind beating up a little like a Tudor Black Bay or Pelagos, or something vintage with a little more interest for evenings out with watch enthusiast friends like a 14060 with creamy tritium.
