different region has different supply and demand.... maybe the 116520 in the UK happens to be in a shorter supply and high demand than many other countries.

I thought an AD must sell all new Rolex watches at MSRP a reseller can sell a watch at whatever price it wants.

Tourneau sells SS Daytona's at $15,000 but Tourneau is not an AD they sell the watch as used and charge whatever they want. My AD only sells all new Rolex at MSRP that includes Daytona My understanding is that Rolex will pull the line if they price gouge.

My wait time in Chicago was 1 month.

They have a wait list at my AD but they don't follow it ;)

In fact my friend bought the white and I got the black. Both were reserved for us.

I did not ask them for a detailed explanation on pricing.. but I sure will next time... They said 15,000usd.. and that was it.. I started...
I told them msrp in the US was 10k and they said... that I should probably buy it there..
They did not seem to have any interest in selling or discounting...

Also I have seen SS Daytona in the US form an AD, ... he brought the watch from the safe and said it was a watch someone bought and they bought back "he was very careful" to explain the watch was never used.."but not brand new" and that the price was 12,500usd.....

Kicked myself on not taking that Geneva AD offer. However, I did have my reasons at the time. However, now I am locked & loaded. I will not wait 10 years for it. I travel personally & with work so I will head to a region where availability is better.

I am heading to Boston this summer. Anyone know any ADs within 5 hours drive of there that is a good chance for having stock of stainless?

Sounds like a sales ploy. It's 10 years, unless you are willing to pay a premium, then I will all of a sudden find one for you.

As far as the waiting list, unless they are taking deposits, 90% of those people won't buy when their time comes.

I agree with dbphotos. The watch that came up in Geneva happened as a result of the individual who reserved it turning it down. Then on top of that I turned it down! The 10 years thing is nonsense even in the UK. Selfridges offered to get me one within 12 months. If the AD knows you are a serious buyer they will get you one within reasonable time. The majority of people on the lists will never buy it when it comes up. Heck--you could be dead in 10 years time or even worse.....no longer care about watches!!!

Here in the UK the ADs will not be able (ie. Not allowed) to charge you anything over the MSPR, but they'd happily to offer you a chance to buy a 116520 of your choice if you spend big bucks in their store....

Do you have a relationship with the AD? Have you bought from them before?

My AD has called me three times asking if I wanted an SS Daytona and I am not even on a list nor have I ever asked to be on one.

Buy a watch, get to know the people in the store and you will be surprised at how short the list really is.
My AD is the husband of my boss at work, very good relationship, I have bought three Rolexes from him in the past, I am getting quite a sweet discount hense the wait.

Thanks,

A five hour drive from Boston will get you into about five states and Canada.

So basically what you are saying is that for the price of a rental & a tank of gas I can expand my options significantly! ;-)

Well it's a bit too soon now however nearer to July I will have to ask the guys here if they know any ADs holding.

If you've found TRF, I personally don't see a reason to even go to an AD, aside from trying out watches, displaying newly acquired info as a WIS, or trying to out them on their ruses in attempting to make more money from customers.
(exception is to upkeep a good relationship with those ADs or salesmen that go beyond the simple call of duty)

We live in a such a global community that getting a watch from anywhere in the world is a simple and fast reality.

The trusted sellers here can get you just about anything you want, in a time frame that's very decent.

Tourneau in NYC has done away with a waiting list and now first come, first serve.

They have pre-owned Daytonas priced at $13,500

I'm not surprised to be honest.

I was in an AD in Canary Wharf London a few months back and they said 12.5 years???

With regards to picking up a watch from a seller on here how does this effect warranty & servicing with Rolex?

You'll have a much easier time in Canada. When I was looking for my Daytona a couple weeks ago, couldn't find one on the Eastern Seaboard, was fortunate to find an AD with one in California though and pulled the trigger. My friends in Montreal have told me they see Daytonas in the showroom all the time. Not sure about whether or not you're allowed to bring it back into the US, but just wear it as you cross the border and you should be fine.

No difference. Trusted sellers will usually supply full papers. That's enough if watch still under warranty. Rolex will always service. Doesn't matter if you didn't buy your watch from an AD.

I think it is $10,900, but you can get 15-20% discounts plus 13% tax from some AD's- several Toronto AD's have them in stock
