That is exactly why you shouldn't buy it , not only the markers but the whole dial in that area is heavily damaged . Again , for many true Rolex collector the dial is the most important part of the watch . Rolex is not a company that maintains spare parts for discontinued models for very long . They traditionally replace old parts like dials with the newer models equivalent and do not return the replaced parts when they service your watch: Meaning that most old Rolex watches no longer have their original dials , especially since 1990 the use of Tritium is forbidden . For that reason a lot of the dials on vintage watches are "service dials " or in a lot of cases repaired or "relumed" if not completely repainted .
Some unscrupulous sellers do not hesitate to fit copy - counterfeit vintage dials or go as far as create a complete fake vintage watch by assembling original and counterfeit parts .
Lucrative market as sometimes these frankenwatches are that well made that only a handful of experts can tell the difference .
We are lucky enough to have some of the world top experts as members here who will prevent us the amateur to fall in these traps .
Good luck with your quest .
