My sister had her 16K engagement ring stolen by a painter. He was smart enough to stay away from all the pawn shops, but dumb enough to list it on Craig's List. Detective working the case met with him as a potential buyer, and hooked him up for grand larceny. He got 6 months jail and 3 years probation. Keep your eyes open. Don't rely 100% on the police - look yourself - not easy to move a nice piece of jewelry-
