Icon8 Rolex Stolen

My Rolex Yachtmaster was just stolen. I gave the police serial number. They informed me that they would be able to check a database, and if it goes to a pawn shop they will possibly locate it. Should I also register it as stolen with Rolex or any other sites. My concern is that if I register it with Rolex as stolen, and they publicize the list the Pawn shop will see the # on the list & maybe not accept the watch then.

Sorry to hear that. I'd also be interested in knowing the circumstances around the incident.

Sorry to hear what has happened.

You should report it to Rolex together with the police report.

Also threads in the most important watch fora ( such as TRF ) with the serial number and the Ref. nr. in the title may help. Very likely that will show up if someone googles that info.

Good luck!

Rolex does not publicize any lists of stolen watches. So, yes it is a good idea to report this to Rolex as stolen.

X2. Report it. That way you have a greater chance that the watch makes its way back to you eventually if someone sends it to RSC for service.

Ooops .... very sad news. I hope they find it soon but the reality is that you should consider it gone and not expect it back. Eventually people get busted after months and years and the stash comes out, but that's usually very rare. Your other hope is Rolex temselves calling you once someone turns it in for servicing. Considering the volume they service, I doubt they call anyone. They used to but I think now the times have changed. One RSC told me that there is NO central database of stolen watches that any RSC can enter info into and out pops the status. Your best bet is police and pawnshops.
Can you tell us how it happened?

Let me try...

Under what circumstances was the watch taken from your possession?

You are correct --- I believe that RSCs might maintain their local databases but what I was told was that there is no one GRAND database. Maybe she was thinking I had a stolen watch and was trying to lure me in. It is understandable --- that when you start talking about or get inquisitive on stolen watches, then your own character starts looking suspicious so maybe that was it, so maybe that was the reason she gave me what I think is false info.

But as far as I know, there is no website, generated by ROLEX, where you can report a stolen watch. In otherwords, the feedback to ROLEX about stolen watches is a haphazard one, not a systematic one. It is incumbent upon you to report it to them. And when you do, do you get a confirmation# from them? I don't think so. The person on Rolex or RSC end, could be writing that info on a yellow stickie that might gt lost. There is no proof given back to the reportee that their info is considered valuable and entered into the system ---- as far as the reportee is concerned, that info could be heading into the black hole.

When you call Rolex, is there a recording that says "your conversation might be recorded for quality control purposes?" I don't think so.

All this tells me that customer feedback and listening to them and accountability is not really ROLEX's high priority.

Of course report it to Rolex, that way it will be seized if ever sent in for service. Nobody can get at the Rolex database but Rolex, rest assured....

It's law in most states that any Pawn Shop that takes in a watch needs to hold it for a predetermined set of time. In Arizona I think it's 30 days before it can be put up for sale.

Don;t lose hope, you may get lucky in the short-term, hopefully you were insured....

In most pawn shops around the country (USA), State Laws require a 30 day hold before they can resell it, plus the pawner has to provide identification in order to pawn an item. But, that is in a perfect world.....there are a lot of unscrupulous pawn shop owners and employees out there that might bend a few rules and forget to get identification or even record the transaction. If the serial number to the watch was reported to law enforcement, there are databases that can be checked to see if the watch has been pawned, especially in south Florida.

Sorry to hear that. Had several of mine stolen from a B + E. report to police and Rolex but very slim chance of getting it back unless you know who took it?

So sorry to hear. Honestly you best bet will be letting the police know and hoping its pawned then you will get it back. Rolex used to have a database but from my understanding it's a very long shot to have the watch returned that way.

Sorry to hear that my friend, I'd report it to Rolex as well and, as stated, keep an eye on Craigslist! There are so many watches on this site, you have chances of finding yours.

Good luck!
