It's interesting to see how many votes the VC has gotten. It is a sexy watch.
On a technical matter, I passed on an overseas because the movement wasn't made by VC. Can anyone confirm that the new movement is 100% by VC? |

Yeh it's a total stunner, and yeh it's evolution not revolution done perfectly by Rolex, the 911 analogy springs to mind. For me still the best looking dive watch in its class, but a lot tougher than the competition, try comparing an iwc, blancpain or an omega after a year of wear with the sub, they would all look like you have let a cat use them as a scratchpad. And the bracelet upgrades are fantastic, trumps the competition |

New movement? Its just a new dial color for all I know. Its an F.Piguet movement, same as AP Roc, with a big date from JLC I think. Next generation will have an inhouse movement according to VC.

VC for me. I love Overseas Chronos and Dual Times.
I like the SUBc and have a LVc myself, but between that and the VC, it's an easy choice for me.

As far as I'm aware it is the Cal 1137, which is based on the F. Piguet 1185 movement, as stated above It's still a very good movement

They are so different in function and purpose. I think a better comparison is a Daytona vs. VC. But if I had to spend your money for you.... VC.

I have a Daytona WG black face - that's the only reason I wasn't comparing it.

In almost every case I'd say VC any day, except yours. A VC chrono is going to be more fragile and less rugged. The Sub or better yet, GMT2c is more what you need. If you need repairs, the Rolex can be serviced by their excellent network, however, the VC is going to take some thought and considerably more money to fix should the need arise while you're out and about.
Personally I only travel with my Rolex. I have a beautiful Zenith and a nice Speedmaster but the Rolex is the only one of the three I can trust 100% of the time instead of the 99% with the other 2. Sent from my using Tapatalk

The VC is in a different league. I don't know the price on the new VC, but I would guess that it is higher than the Sub. I would still choose the VC.

You are correct. The VC uses a Fredric Piquet base ebauche. The VC Overseas, that is not a chronograph (date, with second hand) is a Giraud Perregaux movement.

Would be great with some kind of database with watches and movements, if they're really inhouse or not.

VCs are incredible timepieces. They really are awesome.... However, I'm surprised to see so many on TRF supporting the VC over the SubC.
Listen, the Submariner(and in my opinion the Sea-Dweller) is THE mans watch. Tough as nails. Extremely well engineered and a tried and true in house movement that will last longer then you do. It is the ultimate beach to boardroom watch. Period. Hands down. No contest. The VC is too nice for me. I can't dive with it, and I'd be scared to hurt it. I'd go to war with my Sea Dweller on my wrist. Just my .02 |

VC Ti overseas comes with rubber and croc strap. The grey Ti color on the grey croc is stunning and light/comfy

A bit different price wise I guess, the VC is a stunner. If it was me, just pickin' and price aside, I would probably have the VC.

IMO the non-inhouse movement is not a big issue, after all who would stand up and say that the Daytona is less of a Rolex because it had a Zenith movement?
I think the VC looks stunning especially with that new blue dial and would love to own it, but if you want a from boardroom to swimming with sharks watch, then it has to be the sub.
