If you want a little flash, go with the TT. I am not buying how everyone says YG or TT is for old guys. Look around at what young professionals are wearing nowadays. Sweaters, fedoras... Grandpa is cool. I am 33 and wear a 1969 YG President with jeans and a t-shirt daily. It looks great and I get a ton of compliments on it.

None of the above.

I'd go GMTIIc or SubC. TT and green ceramic are not subtle and people will notice. Gold always gets noticed and who's not gonna notice a shiny green watch ? Not exactly standard office wear is it ?

Smooth bezel DJII ? It would fly under the radar because it's not got the fluted bezel regularly associated with Rolex and goes better with a suit then any sub model.

Explorer II would be good as well.

X2 for that, if you are genuinely thinking 1 watch for the next 10 years then you'll do well to choose a classic look! Enjoy whichever you choose!

I think if your parents are buying the watch for you, you should get something more timeless, like the SS Sub LN, or SS GMT IIC. While graduating from law school and passing the bar is a nice achievement to celebrate, you're still the new guy at your firm, so getting a flashy watch on your parents' dime isn't going to set the right tone. Buy the flashy watch yourself when you win your first big case.

Might I suggest something totally non-Rolex in similar a price bracket such as a JLC Ultra thin moon or a Glashutte Panomatic Reserve?

Get the Hulk or TT GMTc, two tone divers are not rated so much around here as they are a bit of a misnomer.

I think I would be more "comfortable" in a SS watch (hulk) because its less flashy. However, the two tone watches I find to be classier. In reality, I will be a 1 Rolex guy for at least the next ten years. I'm 26 currently. While I believe that I would enjoy the hulk the most in the immediate future, do you think I would still be happy with it 5+ years out or is the green more of a novelty? The TT watches might be better long term potential for my needs?

Thoughts? I would create a poll but I don't see where to do so.

Thank you.
That's what you think.

Buying the Hulk as a one watch owner would probably be a mistake. Just be aware that TT watches are not as durable as SS. If you have a problem with scratches the gold PCL's might drive you nuts. I would still consider the New SS SubC date or No Date if it is going to be an everyday wearer. They have plenty of bling and are just classic.

AS a beginner in the business (unless it is a family firm or some such), you might want to address the comfort level of potential clients or employers. A white face DJ would probably be my choice for the east coast but So Cal is another nation.

I'm an attorney and I'd say stay away from the green/hulk Sub. It isn't really subtle enough to wear on interviews, to meet with clients, or to go to court. Stick with something simple such as a steel Sub with black bezel/dial, steel GMT, Datejust, maybe an Explorer 2. If you really want tutone get the black Sub...not the blue.

Agree, all green would not be my choice in this situation. And even though I dont think OP is too young for a two tone, if I were going to have just one watch for the next ten years, I'd probably go with with SS. Can pretty much wear it anytime...anywhere.

I had the same thought as you (i.e. OP). Initially, I liked the SS SubC as a "right now" watch because it was a classic and I didn't want watch that was considered flashy because i was more concenred what others thought of me (due to my "age" in which I'm not that too far off from you).

However, I was drawn more to the TT black because it just look classier to me and that I would be comfortable wearing it even 10, 20, to 30 years from now. I know Subs are considered "tool" watches, but I viewed Rolexes more as jewelery instead; I wanted something to look reflect my notion that it is a jewlery watch so I opted for some gold (and diamonds on the dial).

For now, I plan to be a one watch guy until I find an urge for another Rolex (even though the datejust II and day-dates sirens are currently calling out to me, but so far I'm able to ignore their singing).

I can only suggest that you go try the watches on, look at them side by side on your wrist, get rid of thoughts regarding what others would think of you, think if you would wear it often and it doesn't hurt to think if would wear it 10 years from now and how often after that (that's when I eliminated the Hulk...).

My vote if you are set on the sub is the LN as well. Congrats on graduating law school next year, I'll be graduating from law school then as well.

I'm a mid-30's physician in the midwest. Most patients/colleagues don't care or notice what brand I'm wearing, but they do detect bling. If you're in situations where you'll be judged by appearance, you have to take that into consideration. My Omega POC 9300 garners attention all the time (to be expected), to the point that I don't wear it around patients. My 39mm Explorer 1 completely flies under the radar. I think it's worth trying on an Explorer 1 based on the image it seems you're looking to convey.

I agree that the last thing you want to be perceived as by colleagues is the junior guy who's parents bought him the latest toy, regardless of the great accomplishment of passing the bar exam. Not sure what type of law you plan to practice, but the bling could help or hurt depending on who your clients are I suppose.

No one mentioned how quickly the tt bracelets get worn.

I'd stick w an explorer II, dd II, hulk or traditional sub.

If you're genuinely concerned about not sticking out don't
Buy a Rolex.

TT gold isn't that flashy, and as a young lawyer the touch of gold will help your image to potential clients.

I'd get the TT black with diamonds. You can always get the green later, cause its a tad cheaper

And congrats on soon finishing law school. Start studying for the bar now, that's my advice. Best of luck and feel free to pm me anytime if you have questions about starting a practice. I do family, criminal, and business law and love it!

Thank you all for the advice, truly much appreciated.

I scooped up the Hulk. The dial is truly mesmerizing and pictures do not do it justice. While the watch is definitely noticeable the SS bracelet balances out the green dial nicely. It is a good compromise between a "plain" 116610LN and a popping 116613LB Sub. I most likely will switch off between this watch and my fathers 116613LN every so often.

As far as Law goes, I will be working primarily in estate planning / administration, taxation, and corporate.

I'd go with the TT. It's very traditional and conservative but most lawyers dress very conservative and traditional too if you are doing the big firm thing anyway.

Congrats on the Hulk, but I've got to chuckle a bit about you being to young for the two tone. Most young people who can't afford a Rolex buy a Fossil or Guess watch... or something in the 100-200 price range. ALL of those watches will be flashier than the TT Rolexes you listed. I have a TT GMT2 and barely anyone notices it, save for the people who already know what it is. There's so much flash out there in watch choices that a Rolex is usually going to be much more subdued than the typical watches.

The last watch I had before I had a Rolex was a $250 Michael Kors watch that people always noticed. Much more comments on that watch than the rolex. Before that I had a Fossil that was about $80 and people always noticed its "flash".
