I didn't even know what a Rolex was when I did my combat tour.

Where are you at Grady? I'm in Farmington. I was in I Corps also, at Camp Evans. Did a lot of support of you guys during TET 68 at Hue. A target rich environment so to speak

Hooahh! I so miss the Cobra. Flew them from 1990-2001. AH-1S(Mod), AH-1P, AH-1E, AH-1F and NASA-736 NAH-1S(Mod) The AH-64 and UH-60's are great aircraft but just don't have the soul the Cobra did. Here's a picture of when we were ferrying our last six for turn in at Ft. Drum NY in Sep 2001. And a picture of when I was flying at NASA-Ames from 1992-1996.

Yep, they were something else. Got to fly them also in Germany, In the Fulda Gap area when we were first developing nap-of-the-earth tactics, and Korea as well where I commanded a "Avn Co/Cav Squdrn"

Awesome! I never got to fly the G but the S(Mods) had the round canopy and if we took the wing stores off, the Lycoming T53-L703 could get them to do about 155kts straight and level. After the Cobra I transitioned into the Apache and then in 2004 the Army said we need more Blackhawk pilots for Iraq and guess what your going to be a Blackhawk pilot. What a bummer! I tell people I fly Blackhawks, but I will never be a "Blackhawk Pilot" Go Guns!!!

Ill never forget being in North Carolina and having an Apache doing maneuvers over my boat as I was fishing.. Amazing what they can do.

Yep, the Apache is an awesome and very capable aircraft and I did enjoy flying it. It just doesn't have a soul like the Cobra did. It's just a big, brutish, very complicated aircraft and I felt more like a systems manager then a pilot in it. The Blackhawk is the same way.
