Someone please correct me if I am wrong here..but an easy way to tell if a GMT is fake even without opening to see the movement is checking out the GMT hand and it's placement. The GMT hand should be between the hour and minute hand.

The first one posted was from the UK second Romania (Chrono24)..

Anyway, I bought one in December. Followed the seller in his R8 Spider to the AD to get it verified, not a bad first time buy experience.. It really is just too much of a minefield out there.

Only on the GMT II. The original GMTs have the GMT hand on the bottom.

There are Fakes this days with correct hand stack. So it is better for you to have it check first, before you buy a watch.

Ebay isn't all bad. There are lots of good watches there being offered by reputable sellers. I have bought from ebay and would again. Just make sure they have a decent amount of transactions with 100% feedback. And look at past sales and the sellers other active items. If his past sales and other items are low cost trinkets then steer clear. But if the guy has other high end watches and has sold high end watches before then it should be safe.

But I will agree, buying from a well known member here is safer. I always look here first and have bought two Rolex's from a well known TRF seller. When I'm in the market to buy one I always look at his offerings first.
