Gmt Master Blue movement - authentic?

Morning Gents,

I'm in the market for my first Rolex and have decided on the GMT II ceramic. I do a fair amount of work overseas plus I think it looks great. I have a budget of around 3.5k plus whatever I can get for my Carerra CV2010. A friend recently send me a picture of the Ceramic in Guernsey airport for £4600 new!! I'm currently overseas so I'll be checking out the ADs in the airports.

I've decided to check the second hand market and the prices vary a lot. From £3k with no paperwork right up to 5k+.. Ideally I would love a blnr but as you probably know the prices are much higher. One caught my eye and it's cheaper than the rest, I was hoping someone could let me know if it's not genuine.

I've done some comparisons and it doesn't look right, see attached.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

If you fly over to OZ you will find genuine watches and with the current NZ to A$ you will do OK and then can claim the tax back.

If you chase the cheapest deal you will end up with a dud, there is no such thing as a cheap Rolex particularly a model in demand, all there will be is expensive fakes.

For example even if you only got the attached down to $8,500.00 with a modest discount, you would get back $850, i.e 7,650 connerted to kiwi $'s 8,120 well under the pounds version above.

You talk a lot of sense, thanks!

From what I've read claiming back the tax is a bit of a hassle and then there are commission fees o top?

However I'm overseas at the moment in Bali, the main airports I will be visiting before I head back to New Zealand are Jakarta, Heathrow, Manchester, Abu Dhabi, Brisbane. If I buy from an AD in one of these locations surely that would be better than claiming the tax back?

The NZ dollar is definitely strong against AUD though so would it be best to wait until the Brisbane leg?

The plain black ceramic seems to vary wildly on chrono24 from European countries so shouldn't incur taxes when I'm in the UK. I'm back there for 2 weeks so should be enough time for postage.

BLNR is my first preference, then the plain black ceramic with chromalite then just the regular plain black.

I have a lot to think about.

Cheers for the help!!

Serious fake! Stay away. The movement is the Asian "Super Clone". At first glance it kinda looks like a 3135. but if you know what to look for it is a easy tell.

Easy to tell the quality of the movement is not up to Rolex par. Also, it is too small for the case it is in. Bezel and bracelet also look off.

I've been searching on chrono24 cautiously.. And I've come across one that's in budget. I've asked the seller many questions and even asked him to take it to the AD so they can take a picture with the case off. I've also asked for his references and a Japanese guy has vouched for him after buying a Daytona.

It looked good until I saw a picture today and the hand stack looks wrong.

I'll attach some pictures, can I please draw up on your expertise again?

If you google correct hand stack for GMT2, you will see that this watch is another fake POS. Obviously another person trying to sell junk. Why don't you purchase a watch from one of the well known trusted sellers here on this forum?

Movement shot is not the same watch as previous photos. Movement is of a genuine Rolex, watch is not.

And again... Behold, the Crappola Master. Price to good to be true? There's usually a reason for that.

Is it this one?

For sale in Romania. No offense, but the "Romania" part alone makes me VERY cautious.

I'm actually pretty disappointed, as Chrono24 is supposed to be pretty good at regulating their marketplace. That is the watch Bayer, as said his Japanese reference checked out from a Japanese address but I guess that can always be spoofed.

There are a few other quite well priced ones from bricks and mortar shops so I'll keep looking.

I do check the ads here regularly but and the US prices are good but will incur VAT in the UK plus the USD is strong so it ends up being pricey. I'm only at my UK address for 2 weeks which is why I'm searching for a watch in the EU. After that I'll be back in NZ so if I don't find one I may just buy it from the Australian duty free as both the NZ and OZ market is fairly limited.

Cheers all.

Really ? And the first watch from this thread is also from a Romanian seller ?
If the second fake watch from here was in the possession of the owner of the first watch posted here will look more legit only because its location is anywhere else ? But both watches are fake. So, it seems to me or someone has a lack of brains here ?

The movement is easy to see as being fake. As far as I know Rolex doesn't use those little flat metal tabs to hold the movement in place. Looks like they are getting good at making fake Rolex movements look real. Only a matter of time before they become so good that it will take a well trained eye looking through a loop to spot fakes.

Unless you enjoy the high risk game of seeking a real Rolex from unknown resources I strongly recommend using an AD or a trusted TRF seller.

Don't post anymore fake pictures; They make me ill...!

I bought rolex on ebay, but let me tell you one thing. They could show you pretty pictures and even of a real watch, but at the end of the day, what they put in the box can be a cinderblock. So be careful where is your watch sourced, evecute common sense, at the end of the day most probably you'll be right.

Buy from here, you won't find a "bargain" online. Specially of the watch you looking for.
