I very much prefer a date as I had a couple without and they are gone.

I like both. No date Sub for the weekend and evenings, DJ for works days.

The aesthetics of no date outweighs the advantage of a date to me. I love the clean look of a time only Rolex. But There are times I wish I had the date.

This 👍 I much prefer watches with dates. I sign my name at least a dozen times a day and of course have to look at the date each time. If I happen to be wearing a watch with no date (which now is almost never) I'll check my phone but that is a pain! I've replaced all but one watch that didn't have a date. It was a big gripe with the Daytona.

Explorer 1, Milgauss, Submariner (no date), Daytona all of them are pretty to look at but useless since they lack of date function. Like if I want to spend $$$ thousands on a luxury timepiece I want to get complications, that is all about high end watches and their movements, if I want to look just at the time Timex are really good at it

Being retired, the date is unimportant to me. Heck, the day of the week is unimportant to me as well. When the time becomes unimportant I might be in some trouble.

Date was always important to me as I initial and date papers daily for work. I have weaned myself from date watches due to mobile phone and task bar date on workstations. So much I am contemplating trading my 1601 and/or 1675 for the new blue lumed Explorer.

Love my Milgauss Z-Blue, when I wear it I'm always looking at it for the date all my other watches except for the semi-bubble back have dates. The reason I went with a Tudor Big Block over a Daytona is the date. Now the new SS Daytona 500 has me wanting one.

Love the clean looks of a PAM 111 or the symmetry of the Daytona. |

I like the symmetrical cleanness of the no date, so I devised a unique system where I fix a post it pad to my wrist with the date on. I've also found with his system one can change date colour to match the colour they're wearing. As you can appreciate Every system has its flaws and I found on windy days the dates can change on there own, so on windy days I revert back to using my iPhone (funny enough I tend to use my iPhone for telling the time now my eyes are old)

I like the no-dates (I just added a 14060 to my collection, for example). I tend to wear them on weekends and when I am otherwise taking it easy (when today's date isn't something I need to refer to).

I love the date, I will always love the date... My older daughter will come up and check out my watch and tell me that today is the 29th... She loves that...

Personally, I prefer the clean look of the no-date sub. If I need to check the date or time, I just look at my phone. I mean come-on, we didn't buy our Rolex's to check the date/time. Its just a symbol of success.

I am filled with concern. There seems to be an apparent trend that the moment someone buys a Rolex, their ability to remember the date goes out of the window. I find it impossible to believe that you cannot remember a simple thing such as todays date. Today is the 29th, what on earth is difficult in remembering that. Regards Mick |

My Tudor big block has a date and as much as I love the watch, I Just feel like the cyclops and the date add clutter to the dial.
My 14060 Sub is perfection - such a balanced look. I would definitely take no-date anytime.

I have gotten used to not having it on my no date watches. I pull out my iphone, if I need a reminder.

The rule for me is:
If I ever gonna have one Rolex only that will have to have a date. If I own more than one there is always place for one no date Rolex. And being a WIS, when it came to Submariner I had to have the no date.

Trouble owning no-date Rolex watches?
Quote:
Really since it is easy to check, it just doesn't enter the stream of consciousness for me. I think it is like being introduced to someone and then immediately forgetting their name. You don't need to know it to get through 99% of the day. But I date and sign things all of the time in my clinic so every watch I own has a date (no current Rolexes). I don't carry my phone when I'm in with patients so my watch or computer is where I have to check. Aesthetics are subjective and personal, but I think watches like my VC Overseas chronograph and IWC perpetual calendar display the date without disturbing any symmetry. |

Well said Even at my great age I can still manage to add 1 to the previous days date. I am also able to retain this information and recall it for the rest of the entire day. Maybe after a few more million brain cells disappear I will be forced to look at my watch for the date. OK I do have watches with dates but do prefer the cleaner no date look. |

I didn't have instant access to a date function before owning a watch, let alone my Daytona, and I knew that I would have to check it a thousand times a day when buying my Daytona.
That being said, I have been used to that visual scramble as a part of my daily life so I have prepared for it and know that when I need the date, I look at my computer/deskphone/mobile/calendar, and when I need the time I check my wrist. It's just another place to look, like knowing to look in the fridge for foodstuffs! Aaaaand now I'm hungry. |
