I was up to six Rolex when I decided it was too many. Three were flipped for two APs, which were flipped a year later for my BLRO. It's been eight months now and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend going pm.

Try a IWC big pilot, omega speedmaster variation, ap roo, VC overseas, etc. All are great and can be had for good preowned prices.

I once read an article describing the 3 phases of Rolex ownership, which I agree with completely:

Phase 1: Rolex is the best watch in the world.
Phase 2: Rolex is the introductory watch to nice watches, I need something better.
Phase 3: Rolex is the best watch in the world.

I had handful of Rolexes. Kept the Sub and branched out to a PP 5167 and an AP 15400. Couldn't be happier and am a strong advocate of diversity.

I went through the No Rolex phase several years ago. I returned to Rolex due to superior reliability and durability.

That's a dilemma you got on your hands, I always find a new Rolex love from the book that I have missed out.

If PM is not a consideration and up sizing can perk your interest, the other normal route will be a Panerai. After several of those they lost their novelty fast, primarily because they are less accurate, and each have little variety to variation, changing straps is only a band-aid fix. Took a beating in unloading them, and during the process I quickly learned how much easier is to flip a Rolex.

The big pilot is a great piece of art but personally I cannot carry it well; on the other hand I found collecting speedmasters to be hugely satisfying, and seem easier to trade along.

As the owner of several Rolex and a prior owner of several JLC and Panerai watches, the one watch that has really hit a sweet spot with me is the Tudor Pelagos. The Panerai 233 is also one that I flipped and would reaquire in a heart beat if finances allowed.

If I may be so bold, I respectfully suggest you avoid the JLC Navy Seal watch. You'd be disappointed. If you've had a Rolex, the Navy Seal will feel like a toy watch. Just my $0.02.

Don't worry about the loyalty, it's only a watch. Just buy what makes you happy. If you buy it right you will even be that much happier as well.

I would branch out to "blue chip" pieces from other brands as to not lose your shirt if you don't like them. Go try a PP 5711, an AP 15400 or similar, or a Lange.

IMO Rolex is great, the best everyday, but there is so much out there.

There is life beyond Rolex, don't worry, plenty of brands out there.

i did the same thing.. albeit i still have a few rolex and rotate between my daytona and my SD as daily beaters i jumped on a AP ROO for a change and now i find myself looking at IWC's
no rules say i have to be a Rolex guy only and ill always have at least 1 or 2 but as they say "variety is the spice of life"

I have several Rolex watches and switched to AP ROO Safari 26470 and AP ROO Panda and also had the AP 15400 and IWC 5001. I ended up switching back again to Rolex again. I have yet to purchase a Patek but we will see what is next?

I would take a look at AP. If those are out of your budget you can try Panerai.

Like others in this thread, I started Rolex (Sub) and then ventured out.
I sold all my Rolexes for an AP ROO and PP 5167R. ROO was uncomfortable, PP too delicate for my liking, now I am back to all Rolex again.
I love the modern SS references especially. I have a Hulk, D-blue, 116500 black and YM 116622 Blue (my current lineup). Also have a 116520.
In fact I love my 116500 black so much, plan on getting white soon. Also a BLNR is on my list.
Comfort, looks, reliability, hold their value, and built like a tank. Rolex is hard to beat.
Sure you can get a beautiful dress watch with an open case-back that is really nice and shows off haute horology, which I appreciate, but for my lifestyle and tastes, the price for this luxury does not justify the delicateness and unease that comes with a watch that is so expensive and more delicate for someone like me with an active and casual lifestyle.
Also many PP and AP are easily scratched which I really hated. Even minor hairline scratches on the bezel really annoy me.
I may buy some other brands again, but I feel confident that Rolex will be my foundation moving forward.

Panerai is my alternate flavour. Patek would be my alt choice if that flavour wasn't so pricey. :-)

I've been 'Rolexless' for the past 3 years and now very much attracted to getting a DD 40 or Daytona Ceramic in RG with strap.

You can fill in your brand fatigue with PP, AP and IWC in the meantime.
