It's a "really nice watch".... not that there's anything wrong with that. Just not sure it brings out the passion for an Internet forum. That's probably why it isn't much talked about.

But if you change the movement and call it a Sky Dweller, suddenly everyone wants one for twice the price......

This forum is comprised of members heavily favouring the sports models. The 36mm is Rolex's best seller. You would never think that if you based that on the forum posts. I am sure the new 41 will sell just fine. I will be taking a hard look but still may go with a 36mm version.

SkyD has stolen its thunder, this was really hoped for but not getting that much traction here, need to see some incomings and the it'll be a party again.

Twice the price is still around a third of a PM Sky Dweller

DJ is a bread and butter Rolex, the Sky Dweller at just twice the price is IMHO a bargain

Twice the price? We have DJ41 fluted at £7K and the SkyD at just £10K, its a relative steal.

DJs and SUBs are the most popular Rolex watches. TRF member represent only a tiny part of Rolex owners. IMHO, DJ41 is still going to be one of most popular watches despite the fact that not many people on TRF discuss it.

Also, I think that steel SkD will compete with DJ41 as difference in price is not so big.

It's weird how the Datejust line sort of quietly outsells everything Rolex produces.

Yes, but then half the sales or more are to women.

That's interesting, didn't realize that. What's the breakdown by diameter I wonder? 36 and below more towards women, >36 more men?

Unlike other models there is SOOO much variation with the DJ and DJII that I don't think there is really that one model to talk about like the Batman or the Hulk.
