You will get the enjoyment of now! Paying above retail is an iffy proposition though because eventually the prices will come back to earth and the pre-owned price will be just below MSRP. The question is whether you will enjoy it that much and only you can answer that.

David is solid as can be- I've bought many from him, so no worries there. But perhaps wait until you can find one on TRF for a bit less? I wouldn't pay over list either, as I see patience as a virtue in watch world. These things fluctuate in price anywhere up to 10% depending on the time of year and demand. Times are good and the great sellers we trust appear to be a bit less flexible in their negotiations right now. I say get on the list, but keep an eye out for a few months. Prices will move, and you never want to be upside down in a watch, at least not by much. These are all just my personal opinions, as I am very open in saying that I'm conscious with my money and try to be very smart in how I buy a luxury watch.

I'd get it from a grey market dealer and get it secondhand from a trusted shop

This way if you ever decide to sell it you'd lose a much lower amount

Or if you want to wait for an indefinite period and don't mind that level of uncertain then you should wait.
Just remember there may be a price increase at your AD when they finally give you the call that they have the watch for you.

^^^YUP. And David is the best IMO.

Buy it now ffs. Who knows what's in store tomorrow. Enjoy it now. Why wait a year, or two? Go for it. David is the man. He'll look after you.

Would the hulk be worth the extra cash or should i wait it out with my SubC date & polar 40mm explorer ii.

Kind regards, Cloitus.

Doesn't sound like a question about buying from David, but more like can I get it now and pay the tariff, or wait till you can get it locally.

This is a decision totally up to you.

If you want it and you can afford it, buy it. Two years is a really long time to wait.

Wait.

You may not have to wait that long. Also, you will have a brand new watch with your name on the warranty.

Divide $600 by the number of days you'll wear it in the next year...is it worth that to rent it for a day?

It's readily available in the U.S. from what I have seen lately. I would call around and negotiate on one out of Australia. Use the money you save to take a trip to pick it up, have a little vacation and wear it back home!

Pay it. I bought one at a slight premium. It was worth it to me for a few reasons. One was not having to play the stupid AD game of if I’m worthy enough or not. It’s a great piece. I’ve bought a few watches from David.

He is a great guy to deal with. I’ve bought a couple of watches from him. It’s all up to you if you want to pay over retail though...

If you really have to have the watch, then pay the extra. That is probably the only way to get this watch. Don't obsess about paying over MSRP. Some people here spend tens of thousands of $ to build relationships with dealers, buying jewelry and watches that they don't really want, just to avoid paying slightly over MSRP for a watch. That does not make any sense.

You already have nice Rolex watches. Are you buying watches to collect them or wear them? I only have one Rolex and the reason is that there is only space for one watch on my wrist. A watch in storage somewhere is no good to me.

I have no advice on whether or not you should pay a premium. I received a watch from David earlier this week. He exceeded my expectations.

Only you can decide whether you want to pay over. That said, David, along with some of the other heavy hitters are great to work with. Bought and sold with David, and each time is SUPER easy and chill. That alone is worth something...

Life’s not that short if this thread is alive 15 months later.
