Put it on Rubber B and imo it's the best sport watch!
I'm certainly going to get a Rubber B strap for the summer and swap the day and night look. Love to see any pictures you have of yours.

I've been wondering about a RubberB, since I love the Omega Rubber strap I have for my Planet Ocean Chronograph (I love swapping to the rubber for holidays/summer as it gives you new watch feels, and makes you appreciate the bracelet when you swap back).

I think you've got the perfect one there with that white accent, which carries over the dial fonts nicely.

Tang buckle or clasp though? The Omega strap uses a bespoke deployment clasp which I absolutely love - shame you can't get something similar for the Rubber B.. or I wonder if I could just use the Omega strap or clasp... hmm

Wow - that looks fantastic! Thanks for letting me see that. If I had any doubts before they have gone now.

I bought the Sub C Date new rather than an older Sea Dweller as once you try on the new gridlock bracelet you don't want to go back to the old clasp. Also I'm quite a big guy and my wrist is 7.5 inches. When the SD4000 came out just a few months after I bought the the SubC Date I considered flipping it for one of them. I had first pick at my local AD but while I loved the look of it in photographs it looked smaller on my wrist than the SubC - I was so disappointed.

The DSSD was out of my price range new back then but I really liked the look of it (in my opinion it looks far better in real life than it does in photos) and recently I was getting a bit restless and wearing my Explorer 2 polar more than the SubC. With all the pre Basel World publicity I thought that the new Sea Dweller was potentially going to be my 'Grail' watch, but I agree with a lot of people who say that the cyclops just spoils what maybe the perfect watch.

While in my AD he offered me nearly the same money I paid for my SubC as a trade in against an SD43 (I'd still be on the waiting list) but I got an even better offer from another company against the mint DSSD.

Some people go on about it's imperfect proportions and looks. But for me that's part of the appeal. And after all it is still the 'ultimate' Rolex. I therefore decided to do the deal and I am glad that I did.
Great acquisition! The SubC is a beautiful piece and from the pic; you wore it well. But as you say, the DSSD is the 'ultimate' - maybe not in the classic sense, but in the sense that (as far as dive watches, and Rolex dive watches) go - it is unsurpassed in its technical marvel (notwithstanding the updated movement in the SD43).

Put it on your wrist, look at it and think "this very watch I am wearing has been pressure tested in a Comex tank to endure not just 12,800ft of depth pressure... but 16,000ft... deeper than the Titanic currently lies at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean; and here it is on my wrist, second hand still sweeping along without a care in the world"

It's nice to see another black-dial owner too. I love the JC D-Blue; but the black is really elegant, classic, timeless and stealthy. I wear it with a suit, shirt, t-shirts, gym gear and it always looks on-point.

Enjoy it!

Thank Ryan, I felt some pangs of guilt handing over my SubC but the DSSD is stunning. Going to resize the bracelet this evening once the missing links arrive and then it's going to get some serious wrist time! Meanwhile my Explorer 2 polar feels so diminutive although I still love that watch.

SnapperJohn,

Thanks for the explanation. I tried on the older SeaDweller and was not impressed. It looked like a thick Sub to me. I can't wear the really big watches with a 7" wrist, but appreciate the attraction.

Too bad you couldn't keep the Sub and acquire the DSSD.

I'm using it on Tang buckle as it's lower profile. I believe there's another version which you can use back the glidelock but the length at 12/6 o' clock need to be specific.

I previously prefer bracelet any day of the week but my previous acquisition changed the perception. It was catch and release, the AP Diver.
