I think to judge the two fairly one has to put out of mind 'new' and 'old', as human nature will otherwise generally be biased to thinking that new must surely be better than old.

While I definitely do agree with that mindset, I think there are also several of us coined those terms to strictly distinguish the difference referring to the timeline of the releases. Although classic and novelty would work just as well, sometimes old and new just comes more naturally to mind to type

Both are equally beautiful! However, it's easier for my eyes to read the time on the older version.

For sure, shows more of the chrono. It just comes down to personal taste and the "look" an individual wants to achieve. Personally, I just like more of the same tone. I just feel white is one two many colors, but that's just me.

that was exactly my point. I don't think here, especially, its ever going to be more popular than the previous dial but a lot of people do like it now. That was not the case at all when it was announced. Its good that people have two viable options now instead of one.

I just tried out the new 44 and yes the dial is very dark and is not the easiest to read the time. Personally, to me, I felt the dial is a little too dark for my taste and too "serious" since I intended to use it as a holiday causal weekend watch. My current (ie the previous) dial is better. So, I pass this time round.
Just bump up this tread to express my gratitude to all forumers who participated in our discussion. Cheers!! HAGWE! Once again, thank you v much for your kind feedbacks! Best regards, James. |

I owned both at the same time and opted for the new dial. The reason I didn't sell the old one was to really compare between both. I ended up selling the previous dial to my cousin and now he wants to trade towards the new dial. It is a matter of taste both are beautiful.

Well since this thread I got the new one and have to say I absolutely love it. The rose gold outer ring and on sub dials with red really looks amazing with the black dial. Again I also had the old one which was of course nice but for me the new one is just perfect.
