The yachtmaster has had red text for 25 years. I would bet that Rolex continues the red on the sea dweller now. Look at any other anniversary edition they've made. They didn't change the design after the first (anniversary) year.

Are prices rising like they are on the LVc? If not then probably nothing will happen.

Luxury brands have to be really, really careful when they start getting into bigger volume, it can do huge damage - look at some of the automakers today vs 15 years ago. Rolex is one of the best marketers out there, they know this well and are doing whatever they need to to protect their brand and long term survival.

Don’t see that the grey dealer gets much out of it, they just trade the flow and either way they buy low and sell high, regardless of if that’s above or below RRP.
Where did you get that from? Ofc Rolex have caused all the issues themselves, as I have stated on a few dozen threads, unless they have genuine production problems. Greys have been the main beneficiaries of the hype and I was addressing Rolex to stop enabling them by creating such an imbalanced market that they can easily scalp off of.

Guys , Submariner 16610LV 50 Anniversary is 2003/2004 year (Fat/Flat 4) ONLY ..
because the first Submariner was introduced to the public in 1954 at the Basel Watch Fair..
Later series are just regular 16600LV ..

so , my opinion is SD43 from 2017 is and will stay ONLY one regular 50 Anny piece of SD model ..
the next series will be just "ordinary" SD 43 models. (the same was with LV Kermit)

If Rolex will change "something" on this SD43 model prices will go wild .. and that "something" could be anything (as on LV model was number 4 on bezel insert) , matte dial , red "SEA-DWELLER" inscription, lume color, font or so...

Your point only refers to pricing based on consumer speculation.

With a brand like Apple consumer speculation can be accurate due to leaks from employees. Rolex has done a great job keeping their mouths shut.

Sorry seems I misunderstood you. Though I would say the Rolex brand is by far the biggest beneficiary of the hype.

Well Rolex make the watches, they do all the work, and then on certain models, they make the same profit margin as a grey or a flipper who does nothing, so I think that's pretty galling and why we have this new policy.

Not consumers, market makers. Buy the rumour, sell the news is the old adage. The most vaunted speculators in history did not make their fortune by not knowing what was happening on the inside. Same with bookies. Follow the price.
