Well, if supply stays low, then it puts the resellers/gray market at a disadvantage. Why would I buy from a reseller if I can buy from an AD at the same price and have my name on the warranty card, its brand new, and guaranteed to be 100% authentic. The question is does Rolex really care about the reseller/gray market if they sell every year their production.
The reason I buy from a reseller is price. Is that advantage going away?

They will normalize. Keep a close eye on the first three months after the New Year. CRM Jewelers just posted an (always entertaining) video on their YouTube channel regarding this. While I find Eric a character, I think his position on this issue is spot on.

Make sense but the inventory for desirable models is mostly sitting with greys so they set the market price. Desirable models at AD are several years waiting list which is their scam. They sell to whom they want, when they want regardless of lists. Not intending to start a massive debate but in my opinion Rolex’s business model is built around their own boutiques, AD and greys.

I guess the better question would be, what is the percentage of watches that are being sold at these higher prices vice the percentage of those that are sold at or below MSRP. I bet the greater number of sales is still at or below retail. While you will always have those that will buy at any cost, they do not constitute the majority.

Prices are supposed to go up in January, which is why they are not supplying as much right now. Why sell everything right before you raise prices? That’s the theory anyways.

Everyone seems to be talking about new, but what about new?!?

I was looking for a 1990's 16600, a watch I think should be worth $4,200 -$4,500, $4,800 and people are asking $6,000, $7,000, $8,000...What is this about? Are they being funny? I don't think it's funny.

Will these prices drop after Rolex sends new watches out? Did the silly prices happen in the past before new watches shipped in a year?

There is an online store with hundreds of 16600's and no one seems to be buying but they are asking $7,000-$8,000 ????
