Wait until it's due for service and have Rolex remove it. It will probably have a few more scratches by then

The first scratch is the deepest...

I got a small scratch on the polished side of my Submariner after having it a month. I decided to try the Cape Cod cloth. I won’t go so far as to say I regret it but the results weren’t exactly perfect. I was able to soften the scratch to the point where it’s hardly noticeable but in the process created tons of little tiny faint micro scratches. Basically I traded one large obvious eyesore for a lot of less obvious ones. Pick your poison I suppose.

In the future I’ll just leave the scratches be and have it polished professionally at service time.

Ahhhh !!!

I love wearing my blue two tone sub with jeans...

The thought of the rivets scratching the watch hadn’t cross my mind.

Was such a schoolboy error! - just sat watching TV, reached across to pick up the remote and...BAM! too late

Sounds like you’re intent on polishing it. It’s really mind over matter, so I would recommend you give it a go.
Pick a date to polish it, say 3 months time. Wear the watch everyday, and review you thoughts in 3 months. Maybe you’ll have won the mind over matter game.
Regards

In the end I gave the watch to my dad. He came round last night for the first time in ages and my eyes nearly popped out when I looked at the watch (especially the clasp and bracelet). It looks like he polishes it every day.... with sand paper.

Still, nothing Rolex can’t polish out when it goes in for a service!

I have been OCD with scratches but i have grown to take it easy and keep on enjoying the watch. Too much worrying over scratches kills the enjoyment of Rolex ownership as i came to realize as of lately. Just enjoy it mate!

Don’t worry about it. The alternate of keeping the watch scratch free in your safe and not seeing any action is not an option,... I hope.

It's easy for me to say it because it's not my watch but I'd leave it.

I've never had any luck with Cape Cod and watches. I now use them to put a shine on my SS unmentionables after shooting.

IMO, you've got to know what you're doing with Cape Cod. You can easily make it worse if you don't. Now...some of our members do, and I've seen some magnificent results, but my advice is if you don't, either practice on something you don't care about, or just let it go.

This. Is. Awesome!!!

The watch equivalent of drive it like you stole it.

This one sucked on my pristine 79090 Tudor Sub. The lower right lug if it doesn’t jaunt out and bite you.

First, do no harm. I’d just leave it alone.

It won’t be the last scratch.

I used to be anal about scratches on my GMT 116710 with PCLs (chronicled at https://www.minus4plus6.com/maintenance.php) but now I just consider scratches as battle scars.

I knew it would happen at some point but I'm absolutely gutted I caught my 5 day old bluesy clasp on the rivet on my jeans pocket!!!
Any advice welcomed.

Polishing (in any form) removes metal. A deep scratch means polishing a lot, removing more metal. I sympathize. I had lots of desk dive marks on the clasp and bracelet of my 116613LN, but it was just not worth worrying about. Took a couple weeks but I realized that marks are inevitable. I would not polish it. As soon as you get it perfect again, it will get another good scratch. Once every 5 to 7+ years (with a service) is plenty. You and I carry memories from our journey. Your timepiece carries its marks. Cheers.

Leave it alone.

You may minimize that scratch at the expense of hazing the Rolex factory polish which chances are you can not duplicate.

use a soft cloth and a small drop of silvo polish. go over the scratch repeatedly. don't go over the edges of the metal clasp. stay on the gold/scratch. I use a small clear tape over my gold portion on my rolesor clasp. Its a scratch magnet.

It is true what they say, they do disappear over time. Just unlucky it happened so early on, but the first is always the worst because it’s the only one to look at haha!
