The first scratch is the deepest...

Anyone recommend a way to gently polish out scratches on a gold clasp without being too harsh?
I knew it would happen at some point but I'm absolutely gutted I caught my 5 day old bluesy clasp on the rivet on my jeans pocket!!!
Any advice welcomed.

The clasp is a scratch magnet, you will be polishing every week if can't overlook the small stuff.

Without giving you the lecture about enjoying it as is, you can take a Cape Cod cloth to it and that should do the trick!

I wouldn't touch it. Once you make a mistake, it just gets worse. I made the mistake of trying to remove a very minor scratch and I simply made it worse. I lived with my mistake a couple of years and learned to simply leave it alone.

If it really has to be fixed, I'd send it to Rolex.

That’s character and patina! I wouldn’t worry about it. Like others said it’s scratch magnet but I cape code will do the job.

Yes, I appreciate that hence why I said I knew it would happen at some point but after only 5 days and only wearing it for about the third time I could kick myself.
Just wanted to keep it as new as poss for as long as poss.
Once the honeymoon period wears off I'll chill out a bit.
Cheers

A gentle massage with a Scotch Brite pad is in order is it’s got your panties bunched up! Will be unnoticeable and you can again be at peace. Enjoy!!

Odds aren’t zero you’ll just make it worse if you try to polish it yourself.

Let my wife borrow your watch for a year. It will look like this. The last scratch is just as deep is the first...

I did something similar on my two tone GMT a couple days after I bought it. I quickly learned that aside from leaving it in the box, there was nothing I could do to stop it getting scratched. Gold is so soft it will pick up scratches here, there and every where. I found it scratched easier and deeper than the PCLs on my SS models.

In the end I gave the watch to my dad. He came round last night for the first time in ages and my eyes nearly popped out when I looked at the watch (especially the clasp and bracelet). It looks like he polishes it every day.... with sand paper.

Still, nothing Rolex can’t polish out when it goes in for a service!

You will now need to seriously raise your WA (wrist awareness) game - it involves knowing where every single piece of metal is on all your pants and jackets!

Whatever you do, don't use Scotch-Brite on polished surfaces!
