Surprise purchase 116710 BLNR

2018 - No plans to buy, but I didn't think the BLNR would happen either

Happy New Year

2017 was all Tudor for me...

Considering some classic, dressier TT Rolex for 2018...

Goodbye 2017 Hello 2018

Flipped a speedy and a Black Bay. Added a TT datejust and SubC no date.

Looking to hopefully add a YG day date sometime in 2018

This year I picked up an Omega DSOTM Speedmaster.

The year was more about watches that were almost purchased.

I turned down two black dial ceramic Daytonas from a single AD, as I wanted a white dial and I did not want to lose that opportunity. Still waiting for a call on the white.

In Rome I tried on an attractive 1950s or 1960s Rolex Datejust, but it was way too small for my wrist (even the seller had to admit it).

Also while in Rome, I found a store selling some drool worthy vintage Rolex, and I lusted after the four digit GMTs and Submariners, but I did not feel well versed enough in vintage pieces and did not want to make a costly mistake. I came so close though and still have some regrets.

As for 2018, I am hoping one of two ADs will come through and the white dial Daytona will finally arrive.

If the right opportunity comes along and I feel confident pulling the trigger, I would like to add a vintage GMT or Submariner.

2017 ......flipped a couple, sold quite a few. Biggest things for 2017....
1. thinning out the collection, decided less is more.
2. Tried a two-watch rotation for a while.
3. Decided PM will be on my wrist 99% of the time
4. Collection sweet spot settling in at 3-5 pieces.

2018..... hoping for a ceramic Explorer.

First Rolex purchased in Aug - 114060

In 2018 I'll be looking and waiting for any of these at a decent price:

126600, SD43 $12000
116500LN, WG Daytona $22000
116500LN, W or B Daytona $15000
PAM690, Blue Radiomir 1940 $10500

Listed target prices if anyone in California and wants to sell. Worn condition is okay!

Black Bay black in house, Explorer 214270, and the other day a Hamilton Pan Europ in green as part of a present from Mrs.

2018 no plans. Have 3 kids marriageable age, one just got engaged and the other two are about on the verge, near as we can tell. Likely no watch budget next while. But, I know better than to say for sure.

Not much activity for 2017, my father was diagnosed with terminal illness so I was the wiser straying away from making any large purchases. I did purchase a 116500 at retail and sold it to free up more money (figuring anything purchased in the time period was taboo). For 2018, I have a 116710LN waiting to come in. Would also love to get a SS Sky Dweller as well.

Bought my first SubC date LN in March & my LB in December (early Christmas present to self!)
Love them both equally although the LB had the most wrist time over Christmas obvs!
In the market for an SD43 - just waiting for my friendly neighborhood AD to give me the call - although presently 9th on the list so may be a2019 incoming!!!

acquired=0
sold=1 BLNR

2018
most likely selling 2 more

Bought an SD43 in 2017. I didn't sell anything. For 2018 I'm increasingly interested in a DJ, rhodium on Jubilee. Also thinking about a Seiko PADI or perhaps a grand seiko. I don't have any major hopes for anything from Basel, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by something and that'll change my ideas.
