Goodbye 2017 Hello 2018

What did you acquire in 2017 and what do you plan to acquire hunt for in 18?

I’ll start

BNIB 116600 in May 17
16600 September 17
Tudor Pelagos September 17
16710 with three bezels and a refurb at LA Watchwerks

2018
It’s cliche but I’d like to add a 116610lv or 116710 BLNR.

Acquired a 116610lv, 116520 this year.

I plan to add a 116500 (black) and a Skydweller (blue or white) in 18'. I am also on the search for a clean 5513 but have no timeline for this piece.

Goodbye 2017 Hello 2018

I was pretty quiet this year, picking up only the SD43, a Sinn EZM3, and a Seiko PADI turtle for true beater wear.

I’ve been thinking a bit about acquiring a TT GMTiiC to replace the one I sold, or a TT DJ41 with green Roman numerals in 2018, but neither is on the list of immediate concerns. I’ve really been enjoying wearing the SD43.

I bought my 50th anniversary SD43 for my 50th bday in May.

Then I picked up this beautiful Pam690 in June.

Next year who knows ...

Good question, I purchased my BLNR in June.

I should and hope to have my white Daytona C within the next month or two and also have my eye on a Panerai 512.

This year I picked up an 39mm Explorer and white dial DaytonaC from my AD. Next year I want to see what’s new at Basel... Would like to venture out and buy an AP / PP / VC / JLC / ALS but with MY lifestyle, tool watches are more in line so another SS Rolex or possibly an Omega, Sinn or go back to IWC and Panerai... So many choices....

2017: Bought the 116610LV.

2018: Probably my first serious non-Rolex watch; A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Ab/Auf (hand wound of course).

None acquired or sold in 2017, in itself an accomplishment for a former flipper

2018 may be a PM year for me

Well, OK...let's see.

There was a bunch that came, and a bunch that left. If I had to say, these three would probably be a good summary of what happened.

Now, what's in store for 2018? Maybe....a smurf....or a Sky-D...or...a DJ41? Heck, I don't know. Sure having a blast, though.

Big year for me. I got an IWC Pilot Chronograph, a Datejust 41, a Radiomir 8 Days, and a Luminor Marina 8 Days.

Next on the list is a Luminor 1950 Submersible, a Milgauss, and a Datejust for my wife.

2017 was totally unexpected. I planned on not buying anything but as the SkyD was released in SS at Basel that quickly changed. For my birthday I got one (OK it came a month or so later).

Next I decided that the Sky D and DJII were two similar so the DJ II was traded towards a SD4KC.

Also as the Eta BBNs were becoming scarce I picked up one of those.

Next I got tired of wanting a Daytona and not having one; I knew there was no way I was getting on a local wait list so I caved and got a grey market one.

Finally I came across a deal that was too good for me to pass on a Co-ax MKII so that ended up in the fold as well. The MKII is my favorite Speedy. I love the tonneau case and the lume on the new version is beautiful as well.

Here's my '69 version for comparison reference to the original!!!

With only hours left in the old year, I guess I'm safe to say I'm done for now!!!

How much time you got?

Too much to list but the results are a new skydweller which is a total surprise for me, AP 15202 which I’ve wanted forever and a 5164 which I’ve wanted ever since I parted with my 5167 too soon.

Biggest incoming was my wife’s first Rolex! A 31mm OP

I didn’t buy a new watch this year, and no plans for next at this point. I’m genuinely happy with what I’ve got.

Two more years until I’m 40. I’m thinking maybe a JLC MUT.

My 2017 watches.

I’ll get a white ceramic Daytona in 2018 if one shows up at the AD.

I purchased three in 2015 (SD4K, Hulk and IWC 5007) so I’ve been pretty happy with my overall collection after that. I do have my eye on a DJ 41 with blue dial, but I’m not in any hurry. I also like the new Air King and might flip my IWC Mark xvii for one.

I flipped a Seamaster300 Spectre. I bought and flipped a 36mm Railmaster and bought a 60th Anniversary Seamaster 300 LE.

Next year I'm hoping to add a 116610LV unless Rolex fulfills my dream by releasing a green Sub with no date. Dreaming for sure, but you never know.
