Infinite might be an overstatement, but I could think of a couple reasons..

-dial confoguration
-Oysterflex
-he likes gold
-he has more money than me

To the Op, both are beautiful, but if it were my money I’d go with the white gold. I think it is more versatile, and therefore would wear it more.

But then again, with the rose gold being less versatile, it makes it more special when you do wear it.

I was in the same boat, always had the RG choco dial on my list (it is a stunning watch) but when the WG on OF was released I knew I had to have it.

One of, if not the best looking watches I’ve ever seen in person. Can’t say enough good things about it.

White gold for sure! To me, rose gold is just a duller and less exciting version of yellow gold, whereas white gold is its own cool thing.

The clasp on the new OF Daytonas is different to the clasp on the leather strapped Daytonas so it’s not a straight swap. But you will be able to source a leather strap for it without too much difficulty that’s made to suit the new clasp style

As you know I had and loved the RG chocolate. But now I’d probably go WG on Oysterflex. Maybe. At a push.

Believe me, I don’t have infinite money.

But I’ve been on the hunt for my ideal watch a long time. Once you get over the cost factor, it becomes a matter of what you prefer.

If this configuration came in SS, I’d likely just get that (not withstanding the perfect balance of PM on OF). But unfortunately it doesn’t.

It’s all a matter of preference. I like that WG looks like SS. I feel less self conscious. For a daily.

If it was for a special piece, RG or YG. No doubt. But that to me is for someone that has infinite money. If I’m spending this kind of loot, I want to wear it everyday.

Understood, but by this logic platinum would be out of the question. For that matter, it should disqualify rose gold as well. "Real" gold is yellow, right?

A chronograph like this seems inherently sporty and the white metal just suits it better than a colored metal IMO.

Now, if that exact same watch were offered in stainless steel, I'd concede that I'd probably choose that. But it isn't...

Exactly. And polished bronze looks like yellow gold, so why bother?

It's gold....that's the point, not who knows it.....that's just showing off. After all, platinum can look like steel to most people. So is platinum 'pointless'?

If I ever get married I’m giving her a stainless steel ring. Hell it looks just like white gold or platinum!

I had the RG, a beauty for sure but felt the choco dial was a bit dark with the black numerals and the rose gold bezel text looked orangey in certain indoor light, so the WG would be my choice, esp with that sexy steel panda dial.

This is one of those things that if you don't get it, you don't get it. I'll just say some of my favorite pieces in the line up are WG.

OP: The WG is one of the sharpest Daytona's I've seen come out of Basel. My only decision would be either the ceramic bezel/oyster flex or the metal bezel/bracelet configuration.

My current collection of three watches are all WG. Each one of them started out as the SS versions. So I’ll take that as a compliment.

One can think someone’s crazy for buying a white gold Rolex, but I guarantee for every one that sees that as crazy there are thousands more who think it’s crazy to spend $1k, 5k or $10k+ on any watch in any material.

I feel like there’s “price” and “value” if that makes sense. The value we all put on these various models changes person to person. But generally my guess is most people think we’re all nuts lol.

The WG on OF is one of the best looking Daytonas to date. Easy choice for me.

My vote would be for the WG. The watch is blingy enough as it is to add even more color.

Leather strap on RG daytona is discontinued. WG and RG are both on OF strap. Are we sure the clasp has changed? Per Wimpe on 5th ave 12/2017.

Both are beautiful pieces, but I'd lean towards the WG.
