I wonder if that's the watch Jim Garner wore in The Rockford Files. Seemed to be a two register chrono w/ black dial.

Also, don't mean to bust anyones "McQueen" bubble but those that worked w/ Steve said he was the most insecure person they ever met. It's what gave his acting so much sparkle on camera.

+1 The price of Rolex when Mcqueen had one.. and when Joanne Woodward bought Paul Newman his Daytona arent even in the same ballpark as today. Likewise today many hollywood celebs motivation for wearing Rolex is more for status, a motivation diffferent from Mcqueen ....who was wearing essential a working mans tool watch. I know they are some celebs who are ligitimately pasionate about watches, but often wonder how many have a stylist who told them to wear or rep a watch. Not to mention endorsements ect.
Lastly you see celebrities rocking the daytona to be like paul newman, even wear it on the same strap.... Mcqueen wasnt copying anyone, he was the trend setter. So Id say a quality tool watch that wasnt mainstream......insert your guess here.
