What would Steve McQueen wear if he were alive and hitting his prime today?

My favorite vintage watch has always been the 5512 and 5513. While I associate these references with Steve McQueen, I wonder what watch he would wear if he were alive today and just hitting his prime as an actor?

And yes, I thought about posting this in the Vintage section But McQueen would be a modern actor in the scenario I have imagined.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

He would be 87 years old. Sobering, but true.

Not a Rolex.

Probably an AP or RM. Maybe a JLC, Zeinith, or even one of the new Tags. And even a chance of a Hublot, Urwek, or something off the wall like that.

A modern Rolex is never cool, or cutting edge.

Sorry TRF

No watch at all. At 87 he would want to enjoy the time he had left, unconstrained by having to waste time measuring it.

Well we all know the word cool was him, he had very cool watches, cars and bikes. He could have anything he wanted but he never flaunted his riches so it seems he was a minimalist at heart so I'm thinking he might wear something like a ranger or an air king being the dial looks like a speedometer, of course a WG Daytona is "cool" too.

Part of me thinks, were he alive today, he'd wonder why people are so interested in his watch.

I am pretty sure the only modern Rolex Steve Mcqueen would be interested in would be the Rolex SD4K 116600.

DSSD to big for him
SD43 to big for him
Sub Maxi-case to square for him

SD4K is modern day vintage

Someone like McQueen likely wouldn't make it as an actor today, so your 'modern scenario' is difficult to figure. McQueen hated 'Hollywood' back in the day, he'd never have coped with the 'Hollywood' of today and the me-me-me attitude of the modern celeb.
He wore a Sub back then as it was still a 'tool' watch, and was the natural next step up from the very rare Hanhart 417ES that he wore for many years prior to buying his Sub.

Not sure if you can tell but, I’m a fan of the Monaco. Particularly the Gulf LE. Haven’t decided if I will pick up the one that was just released.
