. Wearing a white metal DD is like having a beautiful wife and then putting a sack over her head. Enjoy.[/QUOTE]

It’s more like having a beautiful spouse who decides to dress more understated.

Fluted bezel imo is a must on any DD. Thus, eliminate the platinum. Plus, platinum has, for quite a while now, been the cheapest of all precious metals, second only to silver for bottom billing, despite the ego pricetag defenders. See for yourself: http://www.kitco.com/market/

Gold is worth 40% more than platinum on the international metals trading market.

I would go for Platinum because of the heft and the fact that platinum just changes the form when ’scratched’.

If i would have to pick only 1 watch, it would be platinum Day-Date.

Yes it has been so for a long time. Platinum is quite hard to mold and gold is the easiest of all. There is also about 20-25% more metal used when platinum Rolex is made compared to gold Rolex.

Of course it does not still add up and premium for platinum is a lot bigger.

But, however, any PM watch will depreciate. I chose to do it with platinum as the feel and look of it are just exceptional

My first choice would be to go for the heavier YG, but you didnt ask that so, out of the two I would say Plat hands down, no questions asked. The plat is much heavier, more scratch resistant and I have a hard time wrapping my head around "white gold" its like a blue orange to me
