I think I am one of the few Hublot fans on the forum (I don't like all models, but some are very nice) and I would advise against that watch.
If you have 30k to spend and you want some bling, buy a solid gold Sub/GMT/Daytona. Those watches offer a LOT more value. They have a ton of wrist presence and will have a much stronger resale value. |

I know that TRF is not a place to bash..... but if ever a watch shouted “I have more money than taste” that is it

depends if you are particularly attached to that 30k... personally i think making it rain at a club is a better use for that kind of money and it will make you happy. That watch will tank on resale and then you will feel bad.

I love the diamonds. I don’t like the skull. I think a different dial (still diamonds) would have been more appropriate. As soon as I see the skull I think of Michael Kors or something I have seen in Walmart.

However, if it really does tickle your fancy, then who are we to say otherwise – it’s only money, and whilst others may reel in horror, that’s their problem, not yours. It’s not like the sight of it has given them an incurable disease! Right, so alternatives, tux or not… https://www.chrono24.com/cartier/san...-id6899211.htm https://www.chrono24.com/audemarspig...-id6250067.htm https://www.chrono24.com/hmosercie/m...-id5864694.htm https://www.chrono24.com/franckmulle...-id7735626.htm https://www.chrono24.com/patekphilip...-id6380606.htm Of those, I personally would probably gravitate towards the Cartier Santos XL, if I was hell-bent on wearing it to a very formal event. If not, then I’d probably go with the FM Vanguard, for “summer”, and use the rest of the budget (assuming it’s burning a hole in your pocket) for a true formal watch, if you dress in a tuxdeo a good few times throughout the year. Heck, you could even buy both for less than your planned expenditure, especially if you were hell-bent… etc |

You don’t wear a watch with a tuxedo. Unless you want to go uber classy and get a vintage Patek pocketwatch....I stick with that as my father did...

Check out the new Zenith El Primero Defy 21 models with diamonds, if you must have them.
And to those of you saying "don't wear a watch with a tux" or "this watch is for this application, not for that..." Watches are to be worn at all times and all occasions! The more it doesn't fit in to the traditional look, the more interesting the conversation will be! Take a look at the pics I attached- wear that (with the chronograph hand blazing around once per second) to black tie event and you will be the life of the party! If you're looking for a bling bling watch just go with a Breitling Super Avenger with a diamond bezel. Nowhere near your 30k mark and if you decide your tastes change you should still be able to move it pretty easily. Take the other 25k and buy a PM rolex.

I would not buy a Hublot period. That watch is especially too gaudy. With 30k you could go with a much better brand and a more conservative/luxurious watch. IMO this watch just screams I want attention and seems like a fake watch. I would go get a daydate, blue sub or Patek Calatrava.
I would go with this very nice Breguet if you want something that's unique. Look great, classy and from a brand with history.

Not my 30K, so go have at whatever floats your boat. I'd bet you could get it cheaper still...
Hublot's making them so I guess there is an audience for them.....(I'm guessing you're 50% of it). I know you are aware of AP's and Pateks and ALS, so your very casual approach to dropping $30K on this makes me think you have other "sensible" watches and you think this is a fun one. Go for it. |

I own the classic fusion titanium (approx 5k-ish) and would advise you go with something like that... this is just not for me at 30k... much better out there for that price

Since you asked, I would not take that watch if it were offered to me for free. But if people like it, buy it. No accounting for taste, mine or yours.
