That's a possibility. Would an AD typically start such a list during or after Baselworld, when the model and price of the watch are announced? The only thing is I really liked the WG BLRO that they had at the AD, so I still would prefer an SS BLRO. It's a watch you really must see in person.

Here is another question, if you are not a fan of a certain “hot” watch, let’s say a BLNR, but you walk in and find one in the case at an airport AD, aren’t you going to buy it (or at least consider) to flip?

Out of 70, at least 60 will be pure flippers, so that's why Rolex need to weed them out no matter how.

Rolex could easily do this by funding purchases from the major gray market dealers and then blacklist the dealers who have too much inventory going to the grays. That way ADs would know they need to exercise sound judgement when selling (i.e. to try to not sell to flippers), and not sell to grays directly themselves.

Obviously ADs can never be 100% sure a sale isn't going to be flipped to a gray dealers and some of these sales will still slip through the net, but ADs would be much more cautious if they knew rolex were actively policing the gray market and holding dealers responsible.

Rolex could then sell the stock they purchase from the grays to rolex staff at a reduced price.

That’s it exactly with me. I actually like it on a jubilee, and it’s a smart looking watch. I just have zero interest in buying one. I have a 16700BLRO and a 16710 with a red/black insert. I also have a NOS BLRO insert just waiting to be installed on something.

The ceramic BLRO is nice, but I have zero interest in “upgrading”

Not at all, me neither. Does nothing for me. It's nice but I couldn't bring myself to give up $9.5k for it assuming it was just sitting in the shop. I prefer the BLNR for a GMT.
This is just the new thing...get your IG likes up. Post vids on youtube, resell for more money, bragging rights. It's different owning something nice today. An LV wallet isnt "cool enuff" unless it says Supreme on it. Does that even really look good, not to me.

I feel a very small percentage of Rolex fans who don't have any social media accounts to update will actually buy this to enjoy for real personal preference.

It's a nice looking watch just not something I could own unless I was a super rich collector, ie John Mayer.

No, you are not alone. In my opinion it seems like people are getting too caught up in Rolex scarcity hysteria and will jump on a list just because they can get on a list, and because they may want to preserve the ability to buy the watch, if they do like it.

Yes Rolex UK have been actively finding grey watches and tracing sales back to ADs and reprimanding them so here that practice has mostly stopped, unless they have both agreed to bundling DJ and PM sales, which means greys will still be fed.

However the main issue is even regular customers and VIPs get these watches and then flip once the aura of the new must have watch wears off as the price is too good to resist for one you don't truly love.

That is why Rolex are taking this out of AD's hands by withholding warranty cards and maybe tattooing the back so only true buyers will buy.

That's a very interesting perspective. I guess I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I am the weird one out.......but I kinda hate social media. I don't really participate at all.......I tried IG, but I didn't get the point. I have a FB account, but it is inactive essentially.
