I even stopped diving with my 5 digits too. Too expensive to expose to the rudeness of this sport (out of the water) when a below-$400 Seiko works just as well... |

We're all Rolex fans; but when my partner saw the Smurf she said, 'ugh, vulgar.' So there is a spread of opinions. As I wear a WG Daytona with blue dial, she probably thinks mine is vulgar too.
In truth, modern Rolexes can be a touch on the 'blingy' side. You either live with it, or you don't. |

Well, the 6-digit will hold up better over a lifetime of adventure, but, to each their own. |

Not really a fan either. Hope it feels different on the wrist.

Also going off on a tangent slightly, I do find this idea odd now that collectors covet the 4 and 5 digit subs as they're tool watches, made to be abused and didn't cost the earth... Except now, they cost more than the modern 6 digit Submariner and a lot of people who own them lock them away in safes or under a cuff! The idea of owning the current interpenetration of what the Submariner should be, with the hardest wearing materials and the modern advancements in movement technology; What's not to love about it. Either way, I choose the 6 digit over the 5 for those reasons. |

Great looking watch. Every time I get tired or bored with a Rolex Diver it will not be long before one is back on my wrist. I am not in a position to where I would only have a one watch collection but if I did then it could very easily be with the Rolex Diver.

I can’t understand why people don’t like the ceramic?. As for the watch, the ceramic is supposed to be less scratch resistant and it probably fades less in the sun. Sounds like more of a tool watch to me. Besides, if I’m doing any work, like working on my car, I will certainly not be wearing my watch. But for daily chores I certainly don’t have a problem wearing my sub c

I’ve never had to replace an aluminum insert. However, if I did scratch one, it’s about $60 to replace it......not hundreds of dollars. Ceramic is very scratch resistant, but it does scratch, and it is quite brittle and will break. I’ve seen it many times here on the forum. It might not fade over time (incidentally I prefer a faded insert) but the engraved numbers tend to get a little dirty or discolored. Also, I can’t really remove the bezel on a ceramic version if I get grit under it. This watch was designed for diving. All the things above make it less useable for diving IMHO. I actually use my 5-digit models for diving, and it is my primary timing device. The PM model? I wear it because I’m stuck at work and WISH I was diving. I would buy a ceramic GMT or Daytona, but never a SS SubC JMHO

I get it. I miss playing with my 4/5 digits. Easy to take off the bezel and insert and change if you like. Lighter, thinner, more elegant. Lug holes, patina, dome plexi on vintage...I was a long time hold out and did not care for the 6 digit models. Tried one when they first came out and sold it quickly. For some reason a couple years ago a friend talked me into trying a 6 digit Sub again. Do not know why, but now I prefer them for daily wear. Not sure what happened but I have 2 now and will be adding a LV when the market corrects. Just the perfect watch to me now.
Subs of all eras are by far my favorite watch. If I has endless resources I could easily have 20+ Subs...... That 116619 is a beauty. Enjoy it!

Hmm Royal blue bezel & dial and a solid 18k white gold case/bracelet... Yeah I would be drooling over that as well

Well that isn't just any ceramic sub so there is a lot to love. I have owned that puppy twice and will probably take another swing at it one day. My favorite shade of blue on that is when it is a dark navy. Wear it in good health!!

Nice watch.
I'm actually not a fan of the ceramic ones but the new daytona is starting to grow on me because the rehaut is less apparent Something about these new ones seems too "sterile" |

WG Sub is my grail watch (currently), I'm sure that will change several times before I choose to plop down $30K for one.

5 digits all the way over 6. Put a 6 digit subc in one hand and a 5 digit in the other, tell me with one looks like jewelry and which one looks like a tool watch ! The 5 digit as already proven it self in wars and countless expeditions under the ocean. Subc hasn't been proven yet.
