Wow. I can’t believe you hadn’t ever seen one in person since they’ve been around for what........10 years now?? I do have to say that it is a much better watch in person.

Totally agree. The only sub I own now is the YG version, and jewelry is exactly what it is. For anything "tool-ish" I turn to my new crushes, the Tudor BB and Pelagos.

and he's not complaining one bit, he's stating that this piece is so nice he wouldn't want to wear it as a tool watch like they were originally intended.

I primarily wanted to post this picture because of the lighting and dial color. It is just such a deep beautiful blue in this lighting.

What about the 6 digit sub makes it less of a tool than the 5 digit one?

Either way, I love all subs

—Ceramic is more costly and not really end-user replaceable.
—Ceramic is not end-user removable for cleaning purposes
—Lack of drilled-through lug holes. Lug pins less sturdy

—I guess they are both “tools”, but the 116610 is too expensive to repair if damaged for me.

These are the main things for me. I still dive with my 5-digits that have drilled through lug holes or my Rolex with welded bars. I realize they are all expensive, but I have a couple Rolex watches that I bought before the crazy prices. I feel more comfortable diving with these watches.

That’s a great one to let grow on you. I can understand not diving with it. I am a diver and I will not dive with mine. Computers replaced my dive watches for functionality long ago.
