I own three DJ2’s. One of which is the TT Ivory dial. It’s one of the most beautiful watches in my collection, and considering the discount I bought it for 2 years ago, and looking at the current asking prices on line, I haven’t lost a penny on it yet.
The DJ2 does stand out as a more unique watch in the DJ line up, and it certainly has its fans of which I am one and reading posts here in TRF over the last few years there have been numerous buyers who went for a pre-loved DJ2 over the newer DJ41. I suspect it’s because the DJ2 has a presence on the wrist unlike any other DJ. The baton dial versions also are probably the sportiest looking DJ’s ever made and that’s certainly what drew my eye to them over the usual DJ offerings. In this day and age I’m actually quite surprised Rolex didn’t keep the DJ2 running alongside the current DJ41 as I think there’s enough room in the market for both. I’ll be keeping mine for the foreseeable. If any DJ is going to become ‘collectible’, then the DJ2 probably the likeliest contender due to its relative short run in DJ terms and it’s more sporty appearance. Nice watch BTW....my Ivory TT says hi.... |

The Datejust is the most produced Rolex watch in all its various configurations. There will always be a buyer or admirer for any of the particular models. But current prices in the secondary market would indicate that the DJ41 is more sought after than the DJII if you go by price. I don't think there are many DJs that can be considered 'limited' because they make up a pretty decent percentage of Rolex production. Because of the high production the availability on the secondary market is also higher which will keep prices reasonable.

Regarding growth potential though, help me understand something. If you like the watch -- and I am being sincere in asking -- what difference does the value (up or down) make? Is it that you just like knowing that you are wearing something (more) valuable? Like inner satisfaction? If so I get where you are coming from, but aside from that I can't see how it would matter. It's not like you are actually going to sell it. Are you? |

As I said we love our DJ2 and it was bought based on that fact alone. Not resale. But I did get it for 40% below MSRP so regardless if we ever need to sell it, we should be ok.
This is a forum where we dare to ask questions we aren't able to in our everyday lives because we don't have a lot of friends interested in Rolex watches. So all this feedback has been really great and fun I think. I hope you all agree Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |

“Potential gorwth prospects”?
Imho there will be none. The greater demand and shorter supply is on SS models Whereas DJs in general are in great supply with less demand Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
