I'd really consider the Explorer. A little more rugged and casual than what you mentioned. Unless you really want a date complication. Plus it has the flip lock clasp. I wouldn't own a watch without one for outdoorsy stuff.

BB58 is a good choice and a nice watch. It's almost the route I went myself but I didn't want a Sub-Substitute so I got a sub. If you want a sub, get a sub. Of course that is the most "typical" Rolex but on the other hand it's been copied so many times it doesn't raise an eyebrow. Well, mine has raised an eyebrow or two (same situation at work) but I don't care and figure the only eyebrow raising is among people who appreciate it.

My budget is around $6k. This will be my last watch for a good while as I have two boys in private school and selling the wife on one is hard enough:-)!
I’m looking at Tudor black bay 58, white 39mm op and smooth bezel Datejust 41. I work in an environment where a “typical” Rolex will get many smart comments and looks. Not sure that that matters really. I have a local AD Ben Bridge that I have been talking with. I may save for the subc no date. Sounds like I can get one at some time from them but no real timeline.

I’m 5’10” active dad bod lol! I hunt, fish, golf and mountain bike. We have a pool at the house so I’d love to not worry about what is on my wrist if I want to jump in! My wrist is 7.5” per the string measure.

Anyways thank you guys for any help!

So new Tudor GMT or a solid condition Rolex sub 16610. Both are very versatile, close to your budget, and consistent with your lifestyle. If you can stretch a bit more on price the explorer ii at 42mm would be nicely suited for your wrist.

As someone once told me on here "don't buy a Tudor if you really want a Rolex". I'm glad I took that advice as it would not have been the same and I most likely would have taken a hit to upgrade at a later date.

I hade the same quandary last year. Needed an everyday watch and couldn’t afford 2. Went with the DJ41. No regrets and wear it daily. Except when in Mexico.

I originally bought a 41 datejust (blue) got a sick deal on it from AD in portugal. But then set my eyes on a sub. let me tell you something - once i got the sub, dj has been collecting dust ever since. There is no comparison. And with your lifestyle I def recommend a sub, its literally a tank, will take a beating and at the same time flies under a radar (not too flashy) and goes with everything. Occasionally I do wear the DJ as its a beautiful dial but that is probably about 4-5% of the time.

Absolutely on point. The Sub C is the way to go. You have an active lifestyle and big wrist. This watch is versatile and take whatever you throw at it. Not to talk down the DJ, but the Sub is a better fit IMHO. As mistercoasch pointed out. A 16610 could be a solid option for you if you decide to go used.

Of those three, and given your lifestyle, I would wholeheartedly recommend the op39. I am in a similar boat to you with young children, active lifestyle and needing one really good watch that can fit in any environment so I went with the op34 in white (my wrists are 6.5 but 39mm more appropriate for you). I wear this watch everywhere and I love it. It never feels out of place. It's bullet proof and there are no polished bits (other then the sides) to attract unwanted attention/scratches. The sub is a great watch but perhaps less versatile and definitely less 'under the radar'. Great problem to have though, right? Half the fun is mulling over the choice!

Sub for sure. You may get bored of the DJ after a while. Sounds to me your heart is more with the sports lineup. I love the Black Bay, but if I were going for a diver that size I would pick a vintage ND Sub which is nearly identical in size.
