That pm shortage does not apply in Amsterdam. Last Friday the local AD had the blue WG, blue YG and black YG Submariners for sale in the display cases. There are plenty pm submariners around. No SS submariners on display :(

depends on the AD....some of the more upstanding don't play the game of bundling with PM. but then it's not like they will put the hot SS on display either. AD will size up the potential to see if he/she is a potential flipper

When street price is cheaper than retail:

Don't go to that AD. They stick to MSRP, so they don't deserve your business. Go to an AD that understands the actual value of the watch.

When street price is more expensive that retail:

What a rip-off! Why won't they sell me the watch for MSRP even though it's clearly worth more than that on the open market?!?!

I would love to see the “vault” I don’t know your relationship with this AD but that sounds like major BS.

I know what I would do, buy a WG Daytona or BLRO then buy the SS Daytona that is in the “vault” sell it and make a ton of cash. Then tell the AD thanks for the incredible discount on the PM watch.

I too was very disappointed to learn from an AD they do have hard to get models in the safe for the right buyer.

Trusting an AD is like trusting a stripper with love.

I’ve been feeling this way for a while but the only honest relationship worth maintaining in this hobby is with a decent Grey Dealer. He gets me the watches I want at q decent price. Most recently he got me a Blue DJ41, fluted bezel, brand new with my name on the card for msrp.

from my limited experience (had the Rolex bug for 20+ years but have only visited AD's for the last 6 months) the implicit understanding from the AD's I encounter is be a regular customer (don't think they mean buy more than 1 PM) let them see you're local and it goes from there....unsure what regular means is it two purchases a year? so I will follow that by giving that AD first consideration if I need to buy an item for a relative...hopefully it will work out
